Re: Plinking/Varmint Rifle: .22 mag or .17 HMR ?

I absolutely love the 17hmr for prairie dog on a calm day. I've used it for Red Squirrel and sage rats too. Like stated above it doesn't take much wind to blow it around. I only hunt with it on the calm days. I think the ammo availability was better during the ammo craze, you couldn't find much 22ma...

Re: Can a VP9SK handle 150 grain Federal HST 9mm?

As pointed out above ammunition is made to strict specifications. I'm not into the ammo business but I believe they follow SAAMI specs. If your gun is in good condition it can safely shoot all standard 9mm ammo. Re-manufactured ammo is a whole different story. If you want to blow up your gun buy rem...

5500sf Warhouse for Sublease - Firearms MFR OK

I am moving my business to Ramsey this month. My warehouse in Brooklyn Park is available for sublease till July when the lease is up. They don't have anyone lined up for it yet so a longer term should be available. The owner and management are super gun friendly and will sign off on a 07 FFL. Brookl...

Re: Remington RP9 9mm Pistol at Palmetto

I still wouldn’t trust it... Remington hasn’t been what it used to be. I've had absolutely awful luck with Remington under Freedom Group. Remington "not being what it used to be" is an understatement. Luckily they have good customer service for when you need to send a gun in 3 times. I st...

Re: Remington RP9 9mm Pistol at Palmetto

I still say a Glock or M&P is a better deal.

Re: Larger bore Wheelgun

The 44mag is a great round and plenty for deer. It is about as much gun as I car to shoot without a ported barrel or muzzle break. Unless you are going to bear or elk hunt more gun is just a waste. If you are going big to just have a big gun then it's pretty much the 460 or 500 for double action. If...

Re: AR builders, chime in please

I wuldn't bother with an adjustable GB for 300BO. You could try an Gemtec BCG with the switch. But even these are not needed for 300BO. It will be a little over gassed with super sonic loads but not much. I like the Gemtec BCG for 223. That gets pretty gassy without it. Also you get what you pay for...

Re: Tracer rounds...

I would personally not recommend tracers. You don't want to be that guy that starts a forest fire because you saved a few bucks on ammo. Ammo is so cheap right now it is crazy.

Re: Do you compensate for bullet setback in your reloads?

You do not want a heavy crimp on a rimless cartridge. I check chimp by pushing on a loaded round. If I can lean on it and it does not set back I call it good. I have found lead vs plated vs copper jacketed vs brass jacketed all require slightly different crimp settings. You may also be seated too lo...

Re: 6.8 Spc

Watch those prices, even at the deep discounts you can get stuff cheaper online. I don't follow 6.8 prices though. They had a similar deal on 17HMR. I think it was $14 a box and after the discount it was around $10 a box. I just bought 2,000 online for $8.50 a box with free shipping. Most anything ...

Re: OK, time to get one

Lots of good advise above.

I would also add. Do a lot of research before you buy. A lot of the big name companies turn out some pretty lame suppressors. If you are spending the money get one you will enjoy.

Re: Scope for Ruger Precision Rifle? (Not my Nikon?)

Have a brand spankin' new RPR in 6.5 and am thinking about what it deserves for glass. I have a Nikon Monarch 4-16, but am thinking it should have something that goes out to take full advantage of this caliber. The Nikon has the BDC circles, which I'm not fond of. Should I just be content with the ...

Re: shells for a benelli m1

My M1 will reliably cycle 2 3/4 DrEq 1 1/8 oz loads. I don't think it will cycle low recoil buck shot but will cycle standard buck shot for sure. I shoot Rio buck shot.
