Re: Gun Vault

I had a new house built a year ago and it has an ICF basement. During excavation for the basement, we found a lot of clay starting about 4 feet down. As a result of the clay, the floor and walls of the basement were backfilled with a sandy composite material atop of a drain system that empties into ...

Re: ATF Reclassifies Wetted Nitrocellulose as Explosive Material

https://www.atf.gov/explosives/docs/newsletter/explosive-industry-newsletter-june-2016-addendum/download It's amazing how the ATF decides to go off on a tangent, then have to take a step backwards and rethink their decision. With the amount of tax money they operate on, I would expect at least some...

Re: 1st coyote of the year

shooter115 wrote:All I've used coyote hunting for probably the last 15 years is an AR. Best tool for the job IMHO. 50 grain V-Max's

V-Max bullets work. I've got some 40, 50, and 53 gr V-Max to try out. Will hopefully get to it this winter. I also have some Nosler Ballistic Tip's to load if I get the chance.

Re: 1st coyote of the year

Thanks for the info on the call.....I'll have to look it up and do some reading on it.

Re: Zone 184 deer hunting question

You are in a firearm lottery area so you are allowed to take a doe by archery there. If you do shoot a doe, you are done for the year as that zone is a one deer per year area regardless of license type. You are then limited to hunting a managed or intensive area or a special hunt draw if you wish t...

Re: Zone 184 deer hunting question

FJ540.....thanks, and good luck to you too. I think I'll go check trail cams tomorrow. Gotta figure out the best spot to park my behind for archery. Hopefully something on the camera has bones coming out of its head. ;)

Re: Zone 184 deer hunting question

Thank you, much appreciated. I understand how the numbers work. Went on my first hunt 45 years ago this year and still remember the details of it. This is my first year archery hunting and my intent is to shoot a buck. Hopefully, I won't need plan B.

Zone 184 deer hunting question

After reading the DNR publication, am I correct in my understanding that either sex deer during archery season is permissible in zone 184?

Re: Suburban coon trapping

I think if it happens again I may try the .223 with the Varmint Grenades instead of the 10/22... ;) ;) The results from hitting a skunk with a .223 50 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip. It was caught in a trap at my neighbors wood shed door and I took care of it for her. Amazingly, it did not spray...

Re: 1st coyote of the year

I live near Bemidji. I hope to do some coyote hunting this winter. Having moved here a few days before this past Christmas, I had far too many things going on to spend time chasing dogs during our first winter. Next on the list is to do some research on calls and figure out what I'm going to try.

Re: POLL: How often do you carry?

I'm retired, so no issues anymore with carrying on the job. I previously worked at a nuclear power plant and it wasn't until the last few years that having a firearm in the vehicle in the parking lot was finally permitted. Inside a building.....a great way to lose your job. I now live in the country...

Re: 1st coyote of the year

Mrs. and I did some research and found a fair amount of info indicating they are quite edible. I am on the fence with that one. We did not eat this one.

1st coyote of the year

I got my first coyote for 2016 on March 18th, having just moved back to Minnesota a couple of days before Christmas. It is nice when the wife lets you shoot from inside the house (with the sliding glass door opened). I had to take my slippers off and put on my boots to go check it out after shooting...
