Re: SBR AR 15 questions

I have a 7.5" SBR in 5.56 that is mostly Model 1 sales parts. It runs fine but gets dirty very quickly, presumably because of having a large gas port. It only goes about 500 rounds before cycling gets sluggish. A spritz of oil gets it back in the game. It's very accurate at 100 yards but I can'...

Re: WTB: 10/22 bolt buffer

OK, I took the advice of "make your own" and this is what I came up with. For $.65 each at the local Ace Hardware store, I got three 1/4 x 3" nylon bolts. I could've gotten a little shorter and saved a nickel but I didn't measure the bolt stop pin before I went, I just knew I needed 1...

WTB: 10/22 bolt buffer

Does anyone know where I can pick up a 10/22 bolt buffer in the metro area, especially the southern metro? I don't really care what brand, just looking for one of the delrin or rubber bolt stop pin replacements but don't want to pay shipping by mail ordering it.

Thanks,

Re: looks like i'm inheriting a select fire rifle

Do you and your dad both live here in MN? You only need to go through a dealer if you are moving NFA across state lines. The simplest way to xfer this is to fill out a Form 4 and get your local chief LEO to sign it. That could be police or sheriff, among others. There will be a $200 tax you also sub...

Re: Non-member only Pheasant game farms by the metro area?

I went to Traxler's last fall as part of a vendor promotion at work. I had never been to such a facility and had a good time. It seemed to be well run, they had a very very cool lodge with mounts from all over the world, guns, including EBR's on the walls, and good food. I talked with one of the own...

Re: have you machined your own lower?

I you get set up to do this, maybe we could have a build party. I have some forgings just sitting around waiting to be born into real receivers. As has been noted, as long as you make the to semi-auto specs, there are no laws to prevent individuals from making their own guns. And you can sell them i...

Re: 3-Gun on april 15th Pine Island.

How did the shoot go? I'm sorry I missed it, I had an event come up Saturday night that kept me up too late to be able to make the shoot on Sunday. Very interested in another one if there is one. I really like the idea of a pistol-caliber long gun match.

Thanks,

Re: 3-Gun on april 15th Pine Island.

This sounds like a lot of fun, pistol caliber carbines for 3 gun. What class would my Calico M-951 be in? Hmmmmm. Might have a use for the darn thing after all.

Cost?

Re: My experience with taurus firearms and customer service

Way back in the early 90's when I was in college my only social pistol was a Taurus PT92. It sheared the locking block ears one day at the range. I called Taurus to inquire about a replacement and they sent me out one for free. Lady on the phone didn't even care I had bought it used or anything. I h...

Re: How hot is too hot?

Umm. The other side is if you shoot it enough fast enough the gun will get hot enough to cause the rounds to cook off in the chamber, which is not a safe thing for you to be around, either. Not to be too argumentative, but I've never seen or heard of a case where a .22LR cooked off. I doubt a semi ...

Re: How hot is too hot?

You will never get a .22LR barrel too hot. American 180's have 180 and 300(?) round magazines and can dump them all full auto without hurting anything. Same with Ruger MG conversions, albeit usually with just 30 or 50 round mags. I've probably shot 10 back to back 30 round mags through my semi 10/22...

WTS: 2000 Saturn SL sedan - SOLD

I'm selling my 2000 Saturn SL 4 door sedan with a 5 speed manual transmission. It has 198,000 miles and still runs great. It gets about 36-37MPG. No issues, starts and runs great. Recently replaced the intake gasket, thermostat, and O2 sensor plus other minor fixes. Has factory AM/FM/CD. The air con...

Re: Safe accessories that you like?

Ropes lights work as great lighting in a safe. Rig up a momentary switch from radio shack if you want them to go out when you close the door. If I had to do it again, I'd forgo the golden rods and just leave the lights on all the time. Rubber coated wire pistol racks work great for holding lots of p...

Re: Odd marks on 9mm brass

As noted, that is most likely from an H&K P7 pistol or perhaps a HK-94/SP89/MP5 type weapon. If you count the flutes you can probably narrow it down even more. HK flutes the chambers on some of their guns to aid in extraction. The flowing gas helps float/push the brass out of the chamber. P7's c...
