Best polishing areas for 1911?

I'm working on my second 1911. My first was a Rock Island as a 'practice' round- polished the feed ramp, the trigger sear, the trigger slide sides, and disconnector. Seemed to work well- no malfunctions, and for the most part very smooth. Now I'm on my second- a Springfield Range Officer. The trigge...

Re: New rifle, std Weaver mount, aims 4 feet low! ???

My apologies to everyone trying to help me out. But there's lesson to be learned here I guess..... I pulled it all apart and only then after inspecting the base did I see the small "60" stamped on it. OMG, I erroneously used a 60 MOA mount! Oh well, this 700 will go hunting next year. But ...

Re: New rifle, std Weaver mount, aims 4 feet low! ???

I did shoot it once, just to see if the bore sight was being stupid and that shot wasn't on the paper (2'x2'). I pulled the laser out and the bolt and looked thru the barrel and it pointing super low. The rings are the same height (I know Ruger will often make different height rings for their rifle ...

New rifle, std Weaver mount, aims 4 feet low! ???

Picked up a Cabelas Rem 700 ADL .308 when they were on super sale back in Sept. Saved enough with rebates and discounts to justify a Magpul stock upgrade....took my spare Nikon Monarch and Warne steel med. high rings and it all went together super easy. At the range today, threw in a laser boresight...

Gunsmith Needed (Eagan, Apple Valley, Rosemount, ?)

I was shooting my Marlin Guide 45-70 and while trying to cycle in a new round, the next live round didn't come fully out of the tube mag and just stuck with the lever open! So now I have a live round jammed half in/half out of the tube and the level locked full wide open and stuck tight! So I need a...

Re: Scope for Ruger Precision Rifle? (Not my Nikon?)

Are you just looking to use for fun, or anything specific? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk LZ made a good point- What's its use? For years, I've been the 300+ yrd 'look out' in our hunting group. Whether it's deer running out of the woods from the drivers, to the Wyoming speed-goats across the f...

Scope for Ruger Precision Rifle? (Not my Nikon?)

Have a brand spankin' new RPR in 6.5 and am thinking about what it deserves for glass. I have a Nikon Monarch 4-16, but am thinking it should have something that goes out to take full advantage of this caliber. The Nikon has the BDC circles, which I'm not fond of. Should I just be content with the N...

Re: Battle Creek Armory

Charles is a good guy- likes to teach while he is working on your stuff. He's a roll up your sleeves and get the job done kind of guy. I'm heading there this week to finish off two builds, so I can update the post later. (But I suspect I'll have nothing more to add other than good things.) He does l...

Re: What's it worth? (Tikka 595 in .223 with heavy barrel)

Thanks grimbeaver, that's what I was wondering....the relative 'depreciation' due to the crack. (Wasn't looking to post it for sale in this section, I know that)(not quite sure I get the pan/spatula post)

What's it worth? (Tikka 595 in .223 with heavy barrel)

New to this forum and didn't see a 'value' section, so forgive the misplaced post if there is such a section. I have the above mentioned rifle that's just been a safe queen for a long time. So in order to get new and different toys, I'll want to sell this one. It's the standard sporter version, not ...
