Re: Dick’s Sporting Goods Solidifies Anti-Gun Reputation

Everyone is assuming that the lobbyists are being hired to promote gun control. All the filing says is "Lobbying related to gun control." NRA lobbyists are doing "lobbying related to gun control." After Newtown, they stopped selling scary black rifles and hired lobbyists. Despite...

Re: Skip Humphrey's opinion on carry permit issuance

I've emailed Professor Olson and a couple others to see if they have it. b Any luck? Thanks for the bump, I neglected to circle back. Never found anything in writing, but memories from Joe Olson and David Gross seem to call that Humphrey was running around the state telling everyone his thoughts on...

Re: Interesting article in Politico

One aspect of the article is that author tries to answer questions that would come from both sides. He doesn't address the biggest and most obvious problem I see: possession (i.e., constructive possession) If I have one of these magical semi-auto licenses and my wife does not, now she's facing felo...

Re: Gun Owners Rally @ The Capitol April 28th, 2018

All you Yankee Boys, need to lay off the Confederate Flag. Thousands of Americans died fighting for that flag. 100's were from my family. None of them were wealthy land owners, much less slave owners. They were proud of the states they lived in, and made the ultimate sacrifice, to prove their belie...

Re: Illinois town bans assault weapons

Section 15-88. Transportation of Assault Weapons; Exceptions. That's probably in there to comply with the federal safe passage provision of FOPA. That exception does not help residents of Deerfield, though, as it's only transportation if you're going from one place where you can legally possess the...

Re: Illinois town bans assault weapons

They didn't just ban "assault weapons", they completely redefined the term. What they did was ban ALL semi-automatic firearms. Where did you hear that? The didn't redefine the term. They had an existing ordinance which defined "assault weapons" based on features, as we're all us...

Re: Skip Humphrey's opinion on carry permit issuance

In case you don't already have it handy, here is an article by Olson that you might want to read through: The Minnesota Citizen's Personal Protection Act of 2003: History and Commentary Hamline Journal of Public Law and Policy, Vol. 25, p. 21, 2003 https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id...

Re: Use Medical Marijuana? 30 days to turn in your guns

I realize that these restrictions apply to the purchase of guns after the prescription is granted, however there seems to be a bit of overreach in some cases. I believe that is incorrect. It's not just illegal for a user of marijuana to purchase firearms, but to possess them as well. See: https://w...

Re: Permit to purchase - 7 day decision period deadline

If you look at the receipt it will say: This receipt DOES NOT constitute a permit to acquire or possess firearms. So you're not going to have any luck going that route. Also, no store is going to go along with your argument about what happens after 7 days - it's a risk with no reward. The situation ...
