Re: Brass expansion (Spring back)

Ok. It may well be the brass, but if you have been using an over max load you are probably running over 65kPSI. The Lyman manual I have does have PSI printed in it, and top loads are generally right at 60,000 PSI. Notably, it does not have RL 17 data. The 200 ELD bullet data I saw was in hornady’s m...

Re: Brass expansion (Spring back)

By popped the primers, you mean what?

There have been some fairly well documented issues with some lots of Winchester primers, so I don’t know that I would label it cases or bullets.

Lot to lot changes with powder also can be issues.

What cartridge are you dealing with? .308?

Re: Brass expansion (Spring back)

It may be that you are using the pin tumbling. The brass gets so clean and you can get "cold welding" between the bullet jacket and the case neck, especially if they sit a while. (again from reading, I don't do the pin cleaning) After I anneal cases, I do need to use a graphite lube to nec...

Re: Brass expansion (Spring back)

Lots of things can do it… Part of why I am not a big Hornady fan is their penchant for changing things and not telling folks. As to why you noticed what you did- Any signs of corrosion? As Rip said, any neck size issues? Did the powder look decent? Brass hardness (annealing) can be an issue. Suppose...

Re: Surprising surge in gun onwership by Democrats

Markemp wrote:As a liberal gun owner, I’m amazed it took this long for people to realize that liberals love their guns just as much as conservatives.

If this is the case, then why do their politicians continually try and ban firearms and access?

Why do you continually support politicians who attack this right?

Biden EO’d some additional restrictions on selling milsurp ammunition, or so I recall.

Re: Winchester Mil brass

If it’s headstamped WCC, it’s not military brass necessarily. One of the things that does happen is ammo that doesn’t meet military QC requirements as mil spec, but meets SAAMI is perfectly ok to sell. What do you think XM193 ammo was? It wasn’t M193. Some of this is due to the democrats new rules o...

Re: Removing primer crimp

It doesn’t do you any good… but a Dillon 1050 makes short work of your problem.

It’s just kind of a PITA to set the swage rod right.

Re: Biden drops out, endorses Harris.

Well, I’ve been here a while. Trump is not the salvation some seem to say. I like his policies better than Harris, but I don’t trust him to follow through on them. Vance has convinced me to go from definitely voting write in to thinking “maybe” on Trump, but Trump is the negative in my mind. Almost ...

Re: Biden drops out, endorses Harris.

We could and should do better than DJT.

He’s not conservative, smart, moral, principled, or a decent human being.

That he looks good compared to the democrats is a very sorry statement about public life in the US.

Not quite…

The 8 rounders are high capacity, but not extended- they are the same length…

Re: Guns to garden tools

If it isn’t the receiver/frame, it isn’t a gun.

Besides, these anti gun folks are a protected class. Rules only apply to us untermenschen.

Re: Bug-out/home bags and extended magazines

The advantage of a big magazine is that if you get in a fight and get a bit excited, you can stay in the fight longer with a larger magazine. Folks have been known to sit and keep pulling the trigger despite the gun being empty… From my USPSA experience, the larger mags are a bit more difficult to k...

Re: IMI 7.62

I have used a bunch of IMI brass in the past in handgun calibers, and it was good stuff. I’ve not used any IMI .308, but have used some .223 IMI factory ammo which was good, and some .50 BMG which was good (but my use wasn’t the hyper accurate stuff - .50 BMG Barrett shooting. It’s been closer to co...
