Re: Lee Handpress Question

Sam's right about the manual being the first thing to get. Lyman's 49th Edition seems to be considered the gold standard. It's at Gunstop, and if you mention the "email special price", it's 15% off (whatever that comes to) through Thursday the 24th. Ooh, but it's only $17.65 on Amazon, wit...

Re: Lee Handpress Question

If by 'Lee hand press' you mean this (the Wack-a-Mole as Sam says)... http://cdn.gunsholstersandgear.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Lee_Loader.jpg ...then I say, don't! I almost did but I went with a Lee turret kit instead and I'm really glad I did. It's the difference between rounds...

Re: Coonan Guys

A member here (who unfortunately for us hasn't checked in for a few years) has one. It ran great on reloads consisting of a 125gr JHP bullet over 22 gr of H110. This is the same 'full house' load I use for my revolvers. It's on page 357, yep page 357 :), of the Lyman 49th edition reloading manual. H...

I've gotten by with four, and only had to refill them at the line few times like when Benny made us shoot one handed, eyes closed, standing on our heads or something.

Re: Got my Carry Permit!

If you have a couple spare mags, you're equipped for the monthly steel shoots which are fun fun fun, and a good shakedown of you and your gear under a little taste of stress. Even if you don't have spare mags, folks will lend you some and/or reload mags for you, if you want to try it out. I always e...

Doesn't the list get reset each season? I assumed it did and we all got a fresh start.

I'm thinking that hilarious pretend injuries on the range might get a guy on China's list, and not the good list.

Re: Steel Shoots in 2016

...I'm loading even my wimpy loads in .357 cases these days, just because I hate cleaning the chambers. and here I thought it was because you impaled your hand on the ejection rod a couple years ago at a steel shoot when you switched to .357s for the Man v Man after shooting .38s all day. Yeah... t...

Re: Steel Shoots in 2016

IF you would need 38Spcl cases, let me know. I have 2x 50 cal ammo cans full of NEW Starline brass cases. Plus lots of clean twice-fired. I will bring a variety of brass to steel shoots for sale to reduce my inventory, as I size-down my reloading activities. My daughter and I use lots of 38's in ou...

You do know that you also need cases, powder and primers too.

I switched to a shorter gun so the bullets don't stick in the barrel if I leave out the powder.

Re: True custom revolver builders?

It won't work for IDPA if I have to go to a 5 shot cylinder. Whew, I just saved a ton of money.

Re: True custom revolver builders?

Have a crazy idea surrounding a Ruger Super Redhawk. It would need someone who could rebarrel it in a custom caliber and build a replacement cylinder. .50 GI? I was thinking this would be an awesome IDPA revolver. I was imagining starting from a Smith 625, but the Ruger might be better, in terms of...
