Why doesn't Minnesota except the Florida license?

I'm not a Florida instructor, so I might not be 100% accurate, but my understanding is that there are at least 2 things about Florida's carry law that are substantially different from Minnesota's: 1) Almost any Firearm class satisfies the Florida training requirement. In MN, it must be a class that ...

GOOD experience at Bill's

I've been going to Bill's at least weekly for around 10 years. There are obviously the occasional dumbasses who can't follow simple directions, and uncase behind the line, etc. but overall they are a great place to train at. Some people just need something to bitch about. Sent from my iPhone using T...

Carrying a long gun in public - lawsuit filed.

Read the complaint. Before being arrested, the police contacted the city attorney who told them that carrying a long gun openly with permit is not a violation of the law, and that the city ordinance is void under state law. The police chose to arrest him anyway, and hold him in jail, knowing that he...

Re: Customer shot dead trying to stop gunman

I had a friend who used "reasonable force" outside a bar to stop a drunk from doing bad things. After he knocked the guy out he placed him under citizens arrest and called the cops. It ended up working out well. The reality is that most citizens arrests are actually performed by cops, eith...

Customer shot dead trying to stop gunman

Yeah, I just want to make the distinction between what is smart and what is legal. Many people believe that "playing cop" is wrong and should result in legal consequences. The truth is the public are the police, and the police are the public. Sworn law enforcement officers are members of t...

Customer shot dead trying to stop gunman

Performing a citizens arrest under most scenarios is a bad idea. However, it is a right that we all enjoy, codified in MN statute. A person has every right to place another person under arrest. It's not "playing cop" anymore than fixing your drain is "playing plumber". Sent from ...

Re: Caffeine and shooting

Too much caffeine can make you feel jittery, and effect your ability to hold steady, but in my opinion that's not the real problem. The problem is what it does to you mentally. Doing any type of physical activity requires you to remain relaxed and calm, and maintain a quiet mind. The hard part is do...

What's the best gun cleaning video

I use Hoppes and CLP, and on my X-5s run Slide Glide on the rails. I'm running Sigs, and they like to be run wet. Also be aware when lubricating the rails, that the slide moves up and back in recoil. You need to get some lube on the underneath of the rail so it's not running dry under recoil. Sent f...

Just got kicked off the range at Bills in Robbinsdale

That's the catch 22. Because a form 1/4 is a tax document, and protected under privacy laws, a police officer cannot demand you produce it for them. They can demand you produce your drivers license and insurance if pulled over, but they cannot demand you produce your registration document. It's outs...

Re: New gun owner

Training. After you get your handgun permit, you'll need to find someone to teach you to use it safely and effectively as a self-defense tool. Without that training, your handgun and rifle are far more dangerous to you and your family than any potential malefactor. ^^^ This Owning a gun doesn't mak...

Re: Just got kicked off the range at Bills in Robbinsdale

Bill's requires you to voluntarily show your form 1/4 to them prior to shooting it. It's been that way for at least the last 10 years. Basically, they don't want to be known as the place that turns a blind eye to someone commiting a felony. That invites additional BATFE scrutiny. I'm sure that it wo...

M16A2 Clone

I don't believe that there were very many of those made. They were basically prototypes by Armalite prior to Colt acquiring the manufacturing rights, and released the AR15 model 01 in 1959.
