Depending on the gun, I'd suggest looking into a 40S&W conversion barrel since cheap ammo for a 10 is going to be the same power as a 40S&W.

I've got a Lone Wolf 40S&W barrel for my Glock 29, they also sell 357sig & 9x25 barrels

I bought a Dan Wesson Classic Commander Bobtail and I know you can shoot alum. out of some guns but I don't think I could ever shoot it out if the DW.

Great gun, my wife has one too and in my experience it has never hiccupped with the CCI Aluminum rounds (.45 ACP). It is a bit more finicky with reloads, it likes the rounds to be a bit shorter than my Kimber and roundnose ball bullets feed more reliably than SWC.
I have a Colt Python and you don't so what do I care...
