Sticker shock ...

Postby Joe Camo on Thu Feb 25, 2010 5:18 pm

I always try to shoot up my old ammo first (that FIFO principal) but sometimes I miss a box or two, so when digging out my oldest bricks of .22LR from the bottom of the ammo can today to go plinking I got a tear in my eye when I saw the price stickers on them:

Rem Thunderbolts - $7.90/brick
Win Wildcats - $8.90/brick

No idea when I bought them (6-7 yrs ago??), but oh for the good old days ... Sigh ...

Last summer I broke open my last 500 round brick of 22 LR CCI Minimag. Blue cardboard box with 10 blue 50 round boxs in side. It had a sticker price of $14.99 with a clearance sticker priced at $10.99. Now get this, from Target stores. I just can not bring myself to go shoot it. Went to WM, :o   it was almost $7.00 for a 100 rounds.

It's all that GDCSMFGDSOB Obama's fault. Brass, 22 ammo, primers, and powder were cheap and plentiful until that gun grabbing commie got elected, and then everybody started buying and hoarding stuff and prices went through the roof!!

My last major purchase of .22LR was a case (5250 rounds) of Federal Bulk packs for $70... now I'm thinking I should have gotten two!

+1 GDCSMFGDSOB Obama's fault

One thing the Navy did for me was taught me to break codes. :D

Ammo components are all made of commodities: copper, lead and even gas used in the supply chain. They all started going up when the dollar started losing value.
