A first look at my new reloading bench

The tabletop is made of butcherblock and can withstand multiple nuclear detonations. On the overhang to the left I plan to put a Hornady case prep center and also my RCBS manual trimmer. The Rock Chucker and powder measure will go in the middle. There is going to be a whole row of cabinets on the wall over the bench so I think I'll be OK when it comes to storage. Well, at least for a month or so :D

Food for thought, I mounted all my stuff on a stardard size boards with a standardized bolt pattern. Then I bolted the board to the table. This way I can switch stuff out without drilling dozen of holes in the bench.

Good point, I will definately consider that.
I think my SwedishBabe will veto the Dillon Calendar but I will try to sneak it in.

Why did you bother cleaning up for the pic, ;) If its anything like mine it will be cluttered in short order.

Looks good so far. Having a comfortable place to work makes reloading all the more enjoyable. Congratulations on the project! Many Hamm's are in order.

And here is the finished product. Very happy with it although the lay out of the press, powdermeasure and case prep center is not finalized. So far it's been a joy to work on these last couple of days. As you can see, I have the Rockchucker setup and for large batches of handgun ammo, I use the old 'friends with Dillons' approach. :)

I made a portable reloading bench, which is a concrete block 16x8x4 with my Lee Press bolted to it. I can reload in my office, outside storage area or take on the road with me. I used in motel rooms when I was traveling this winter. The block is heavy enough to go through all the functions of reloading.
The block does not take up any room and can be moved out of the way when not in use.

Holy crap, I bet you weren't traveling by plane this winter. That thing must weigh a ton! I'm sure it doesn't move at all when you're full-length resizing some 300 win mag brass or something similar. Marble would be prettier though :)

Traveling by auto. Spent two weeks in California, set up in my sons garage, Stayed two weeks in Ariz. Set up in the motel we were staying at. Did range shooting both places. Everything was unbolted while traveling. Now at home I have been reloading in my office and when the weather warms up here in Minnesota I can move to my work area in my outside shed. It is heavy, so do not move anymore then I have to. But it holds the press in place while reloading.
I have a Glass u shape desk and with a towel under the block, all I have to do is slide out of the way. Reloaded 100 rounds this week.

Nice setups.

I have found I prefer the powder scale to be up on a shelf closer to eye level, I was always haveing to scoot my chair back so I could better see the beam(old eyes)

Dang I need to swamp out my reloading room

I loaded 700 rounds of 45 acp last night in just over a couple hours.

FC headstamps aren't taking a large pistol primer still. But the federal brass was just fine.

Tonight I'm on vacation, if I see one more empty brass case I think I'll go nuts.
