An honest opinion based on experience is never beating a dead horse.

Sam, I think it is amazing that you share the information you do. I have learned a ton from you, and like I said, I don't reload. Everyone has to start somewhere and I really appreciate when you take the time to make sure someone is doing the right thing.

I owe you a cold one, if I ever make it to one of the gatherings...

That must be why so many people here spend so much time organizing group buys for online reloading supplies.

Even if you are able to find a couple of items for a couple bucks cheaper than online, that doesn't factor in paying tax on those items, gas burned to drive there and purchase the items, and time wasted to go to the store. I realize that some peoples time is more valuable to them than others.

I know you could argue the shipping costs of online purchases, but in my experience I either get free shipping because of the dollar amount purchased, or the shipping is cheap enough that its a wash compared to the amount not spent in paying the sales tax.

Its people that think like you that get all the small individually owned shops closed and we are stuck with big box stores with employees that are clue less, and have ******* customer service. Of course this thread was started with the idea that one of the small individually owned shops had less than acceptable service. Go figure.

I was looking for a specific Hornady bullet, nobody seemed to have them, including Cabela's, Midway, Graf & Sons, Natches, and any other place I found with Google. Being in Mankato, Gun Stop did not come to mind till later. I called John, he had 2 boxes at $38, cheapest online was $35 up to $42, but all out of stock. I explained that I was from Mankato and would be in the Twin Cities on next week, could I give a credit card to hold a box. Wouldn't do that, said he would put my name on a box and I could pay when I picked it up. Walked in a couple days later, asked if he still had the box of bullets for the guy in Mankato, he just said, on the floor behind the counter. I ended up buying another bottle of Dillon case lube and I was out the door.

John didn't really know who I was, but I thought did give me very good service, had what I needed at a very fair price.

And this is almost scary -

I dont think any one has mentioned Capra's or Simon's sports bith in Spring Lake Park. Simon's is smaller but will order anything in for you. Capra's has a really nice in stock selection and moves a lot of used stuff so the inventory is seldom stale. Personally, I love the Wolf's Den in Hugo. Funky little shop with quirky but fun staff as well. Fells like home and with all the BS they produce, could fertalize 40 acres a day... ;)

John scared me when I first started visiting GunStop, mainly because I'm such a total noob in the sacred science of reloading. But he's always been patient and straightforward with me. Even jocular at times. Their inventory is awesome and the location is convenient, so now I'm a regular customer.

On the other hand --- I have heard several people say they refuse to shop at GunStop because they didn't like the service they got. That's OK. If you don't like one vendor, go somewhere else. That's how the free market works. And if GunStop loses a few customers, that's OK too. I would bet that they still get plenty of business from the rest of us.

Yes, they still have too many customers! It's like the restaurant Yogi Berra described: "Nobody goes there anymore because it's too crowded". So listen up everybody: they are horrible horrible men and no one should ever go there. Or at least, no one should buy small pistol primers there until I get stocked up.

If John doesn't like you there must be a reason... I'm not saying, I'm just saying. :D

Me <----- Goes to GS EVERY Saturday morning I'm in town, and my wife gets really pissed if I go without her because she thinks John is so funny and enjoys hearing his stories.
