IMR 8208 XBR

Postby BirdShooter on Mon Aug 23, 2010 10:31 am

Anybody try out IMR 8208 XBR yet? My brother has been loading it in a new Savage 223 that he bought for his son to use for PDs and he's getting 3/8" 100yd groups with it.

Haven't tried it, but it sure sounds nice!

IMR 8208 XBR The latest in the versatile IMR line of fine propellants, this accurate metering, super short grained extruded rifle powder was designed expressly for match, varmint, and AR sniper cartridges. Ideally suited for cartridges like the 223 Remington/5.56mm, 308 Winchester/7.62mm NATO and the 6mm PPC, shooters will find IMR 8208 XBR totally insensitive to changes in temperature, while yielding max velocities and “tack driving” accuracy. Clearly, the competitor’s “choice” and the Varmint Hunter’s “dream powder”.

I only want to use tack-driving-choice-dream-powders from now on. I deserve nothing less.

Tacks are expensive and you have to keep sticking new ones up when you shoot them. I prefer to shoot the flies that land on the target.

Oh, so you're a funny guy, eh? Have you checked in with justaguy and pulled the required permits?

Oh NO! Does he own the flies???

In truth I didn't pull any permits nor did I get the (probably) required varmint license. I just shoot the little buggers.

forcefed - I asked my brother which model he's shooting and he said, "It's a Savage 16FLHSS 16: left-hand, short action stainless steel, synthetic stock, accustock, accutrigger, no sights, hinged floorplate (like a 700BDL). The right-hand version is a 16 FHSS."

Excellent. What other load data does he want to share? Bullet/weight, primer, grains of powder, OAL?

He's using 50 gr. Nosler ballistic tips with approximately 25 gr. of Benchmark and 8208 (.6 to 1.0 grain under Hodgdon published maximum loading for both powders) OAL of 1.30" to 1.40" and using R-P commercial brass (NOT military) with Rem. 7-1/2 primers.

see if you can follow the simple logic here dude:

Statement A: chicks are awesome.

Clarifiers to Statement A:
1. chicks dig scars
2. chicks dig ink
3. chicks dig dudes who are bad azz

Therefore: inked up dudes with scars are bad azz and get chicks.

Proof of theorem: Slayer. i'd go on, but you don't need any more awesomness than f****** slayer.

if you're worried about being qualified under item 3, see items 1 and 2.

class dismissed. :D

I've got ink, scars, and a chick who agreed to spend the rest of her life with me - and that's badass. I've also been pierced in more places than one.

Exhibit A:

I even put my stinky foot on my cute doc's knee to take this photo and she didn't complain.

I still don't call anyone "duder."
