BAR 30-06

Postby ScatterGun4015 on Sun Mar 06, 2011 2:33 pm

My dad just gave me his BAR Safari in 30-06 for some work I did on my little brothers car. My first semi-auto 30-06 so I am planning on going through more 30-06 than I used to with my 03a3. I just picked up some small base dies by RCBS (recommended by Dan at Bullseye shooter supply). I am wondering what type of powders you guys have used in a semi-auto 30-06? Perferably clean burning. Also, any recommendations on projectiles and primers would be great too. I haven't done much with larger rifle so I am diving into a new relm of reloading

for an autoloader,

either IMR 4895 or Hodgdon H4895 or else step up to 4064. But that tends to come from running M14 or M1 Garands more than anything else.

Accurate Arms 2460, or 2520.

4895, either flavor. Bullet depends on what you want to do with it. I find 165-168grs shoot well out of my 30-06, and that is more than enough bullet to whack Bambi (and probably anything you'll shoot in CONUS).

He had no heat in his audi a4. I replaced the heatercore.......I am a Ford mechanic and I will tell you that the engineers that designed that audi dash are retarded!!! A typical heater core takes me about 4-5 hours. I spent 12 on the Audi. BUY AMERICAN!!!

My 30-06 BAR is pretty finicky when it comes to ammo. I found 150gr Nosler Partition and Ramshot BigGame to be a great combo. I tried a lot of 165gr and 180gr with various powders and was not satisfied. The 190gr Hornady Interlock is a winner in my rifle powered by Ramshot Hunter.
