Shortage of Hornady 40 cal?

Postby ninjaplease! on Wed Jul 27, 2011 8:37 am

Ive been searching high and low for Hornady Critical Defense in .40, and can't find it anywhere. Cabelas in Owatonna is sold out, and many of the places I look for it don't carry it in .40

Can anyone suggest me a place that I could find it? or maybe a comparable brand of ammo? I was really impressed with the Hornady tests that I saw online, specifically the dreaded 4 layer denim test.

Thanks in advance!

Bob

I suspect these might also fare well! Image

there are places across the internet that show it in stock.
Including Cabela's website.
If you have to have it, you could order it thru Cabelas website
and pick it up at the store.

Cabelas has been willing to order an item to their store from distribution if it's an item they normally stock (in the past), not sure if you pursued this when you checked Owatonna?

Streichers has Gold dots and HST's in stock, just as good, 28 bucks or so a box of fifty, instead of 24 dollars for 20.

Cabelas told me that even if I ordered them online that I would get an email back stating that they were on backorder and my card wouldnt be charged.

I will check out the other options presented to me in this thread.

Thanks

A word of warning, DoubleTap loads are very hot and will be quite different if you are accustomed to standard .40 loads.
