How precise are you looking to be? Its variable because different manufacturers and even different lot numbers will weigh quite a bit differently. Compound that over 500 cases and you can have a couple ounces either way.

Generally, you take 10 cases and weigh them on your powder scale, and multiply that by 50 and then convert to pounds. 15.43 grains to a gram, and 453.6 grams to a pound.

For shipping purposes? 5lbs is a good estimate. I was moving lots of 1500 for both 9mm and 40, and each bag of 1500 weighed in at just about 15lbs.

I think that the cases I weighed (through sheer boredom more than anything else) were in the 60grain/per range.

If you want to get more specific than that, you will have to weigh them individually. There can be a big difference in weight from case to case depending on makup and manufacturer, and over 500 pieces that adds up.

Just under 5 pounds for 40
just under 4 1/2 pounds for 9 mm

Easy is to get the one rate postal box and throw them in there to ship. (weight is immaterial if you get it in the box...)
