They used to - I picked up two cases of UMC 9mm for $9.99/box this spring on a rain check. I've heard since then that they no longer allow rain checks on ammunition, but haven't checked recently.

FF is pretty good about rain checks. If you were there during a sale, and they're out, it's the law re rain checks. I got a raincheck for a recent (Sept?/ Oct?) .223 sale price, I don't think there was even a quantity limit, as I asked for 3k, and they didn't blink. Also, I've gotten a raincheck on some 'while supply lasts' stuff, which is likely exempt from the applicable consumer law. Ask at the sporting goods desk or service counter. I mostly shop the Oakdale store.

Last time I asked in Blaine I was told no rain checks on sale items... this was the last time they had XM193 on sale a couple weeks back.

Blaine had a few cans of the Federal XM855 / 420 rounds on stripper clips / in 30 caliber cans for $165 in stock - unless they restacked the shelves since last evening they were fresh out of the WPA .223 FMJ's but if the sale was good on Sunday I expect it's running all week and they will probably get more in (the steel stuff doesn't seem as hard to get as the brass cased). Nothing for XM193bk.

I didn't find a single box/can of steel or brass cased .223/5.56 aside from the Winchester frangible and the usual hunting V-max stuff at Brooklyn Park.

Just left the Blaine store. I and a friend each too a case (25 boxes) of the WPA .223 FMJ. With the case and a steel surplus ammo can, total after tax was $128.20. PRetty dang good deal. Wish I had more $, I woulda bought them out.

When I left the guy said they had one case left in back, and had 30 boxes on the shelf.

I just came from the Oakdale FF. You could land a small plane on the shelf where the bulk .223 often resides.
The sale priced generator I have rain checked isn't in yet as well; but that's only been 8-9 days.

If you dont find the performance you are seeking with Wolf I would look at some BlackHills, they have a great reputation and there 68gr SMK load is a legendary performer.

Good luck folks. All websites i know of are pretty much out of decent cheap stuff.

That 34 cents per round may as well forget that. You may get lucky at some shop if you luck out and get there soon. Hunting ammo is in stock online but expect 55-100 cents per round. You and i may not be expec ing the worst but somebody sure is.

Heard it from a direct source that certain manufacturers are now limiting their sales of 9mm and 5.56 ammo to orders by the pallet only.

talking $14,000 per pallet type stuff.

So, if you want to buy in bulk...

When ammo prices spike and shelves go empty in a panic, how much of the price increase is due to:

1. the retailer gouging us?

2. government manipulation (DHS has been known to buy bullets by the billions for no known good reason)?

3. us just being us - and all ramping up demand? us all flocking to the stores at the same time?

4. a few jerks who buy the whole pallet before we even get to the store, so they can just go sell at a higher price?

I bought some last night for 50 cents /rd. Not happy. Good luck everyone. I hope like hell they don't ban ammo. But their idiots so it isn't an impossibility.

In the 2000s, why only ban when you can also tax and regulate?

I'm looking forward to none of the above!

I'd like to pick up 1000+ rounds of decent .223 ASAP. I guess I'll try WallyWorld to look for the Federal packs or FleetFarm tomorrow.

Unless someone knows a place online? CTD is essentially sold out of .223.
