I’ve been working on my “man cave” for a bit now and finally got a cabinet in to make it look a little cleaner. This room isn’t just for firearms; I use it for all my little electrical projects, gadget building, and where I go to get away from the madness of the house.
It also works out great for secure storage of my guns.
Don’t worry about the firearms not in a safe…. This room is a safe room, with all walls made of 9” thick poured concrete, and precast concrete slabs on top. It was originally an underground storage room, with parking on top, but has since migrated into my own very secure, “home away from home”. I’m a security system freak since I work as an installer, and it’s controlled by its own cellular monitored system, with no windows, and one door which is controlled by an access control system keypad with battery backup. It doesn’t really need to be this secure, but like I said… I’m kind of a security system freak so I went overboard just for fun. Plus, when the zombies come… I’m covered.
I have a safe too but haven’t decided if I want to keep the guns out for display, or back in the safe… I may just use the safe for my expensive long guns and handguns… I’m not sure yet. Either way, I have a dehumidifier in the room anyways.
I had all of my reloading supplies on the back of the bench at the wall, but I hate clutter! I found a nice big steel electrical panel box, did some light welding to patch some holes, ground off some tabs, then painted it white to match all the melamine cabinets in the rest of the room. I also added adjustable shelving inside the cabinet. Now my bench is much cleaner… me likey!
I’m still new to the reloading scene but find it’s a very fun relaxing hobby, and a great excuse to go to my little man cave. I made some quick release mounts for the powder drop and press, since as I said earlier, this isn’t just my gun room and sometimes I need the space on the bench for other projects. I’d like to get a progressive setup someday, but for now this is all I really need.
EDIT: Gotta progressive setup now
