IMI 62grain is pretty consistent. Made the mistake of selling mine before the panic. GI green tip is pretty nice, but shoots bigger grouping.

Sold mine too - wonder if buyer would mind if I shot it since he hasn't picked it up (he's deployed).
It's stored in a safe place - Bill.

I would look at BlackHills. Midway sells it as does Scheels. Otherwise I have heard good things about Freedom Munitions too.

freedom has been sold out of everything for weeks unless it's 38 or some 9mm. usaammo doesn't even list any rifle calibers and they state it'll be 3 months before they can start loading them...

it's gonna get ugly fast here folks.

UPDATE: No .223 ammo at Fleet Farm North St. Paul, Walmarts in Woodbury & Stillwater. FF had some surplus labeled 5.56/.223 but that I'd be hesitant to run through my Kimber.

If you can reload it is waaaay cheaper (some say you just shoot more for what you spend.....)

To give you an idea I get brass for free (range pick ups), 1,000 small rifle primers= $35.00, 3 pounds of IMR 4895= $75.00, 1,000 .223 bullets= $89.00. All told it comes out to $199.00 per 1,000 rounds. That is .19 cents per round and $3.80 per 20 round box...... even better than Tula :D

Where are you getting your bullets at that price and what are they?

That's pretty much the normal price for Hornady 55gr FMJ's. Tough to find any right now though. I have 3k on backorder from Midway but they aren't taking any new orders.

The bullets I was getting from Everglades Ammo for $89 shipped, but that was a couple months ago. Last I looked they were out of stock on pretty much all rifle stuff.

Gander had Independence 5.56 in stock yesterday in their EP store. as well as American Eagle tracer and a few self-defense/hunting rounds. The Independence Ammo is apparently Israeli manufacture imported by Federal, I've not shot it, but we'll see. It wasn't insanely expensive at $11.99 a box, but it sure wasn't cheap.

I hate the stupid ammo shortages that accompany *anything* political. I understand $40 PMAGs, but no one is outlawing .223 ammo, and if they were, you having 10 boxes of $6 TulAmmo isn't going to help...

I shot 100 rounds of the Black Hills 55 grain yesterday. The ammunition is very clean. I guess you do get what you pay for.
