Want to go shooting this weekend, can't find .22LR again!

A place to discuss calibers, ammunition, and reloading

Just a comment - like it or not..................

I've had people call me a "Hoarder" because I have lots of ammo stored.

I bought almost all of my ammo when there was no shortage, when anybody could go in and buy these Federal 525 boxes for $7.95 to $12.95 or thereabouts. I would buy what I felt I could spare for that weeks paycheck, splurging sometimes and buying 5 to 10 boxes, and go home and pour into a ZipLock bag all ammo of same type and lot number with tag off box in bag also. After filling a 50BMg ammo can, it went into storage, and another can was started. And the process repeated. Didn't break the bank, didn't stop anyone else from buying their ammo.

I like to shoot too, and when my kids found my stash, they shot too. We typically try to have a Spring Shootoff somewhere and typically will empty a 50BMG ammo can of 22's that day.

Now, they people who didn't plan ahead are running around looking for ammo and complaining about "Hoarders". My answer - Tough Crap !!! - Plan ahead. (Isn't there a children's fairy tale story about this type of senario.)

Or shoot something else that has ammo available, and wait out the current crunch, as it too will pass.

Why pay double or more and complain? If you enjoy shooting as a hobby, plan ahead. Same applies to the amount of food you store in your house, or the amount of gas in your car or truck.

Ok - now let the complaining about my post start - and remind me that I too screwed up when I didn't buy enough small pistol magnum primers. At least I have other options.

I've got no complaints. We all have nobody to blame but ourselves. It was my fault for not having any in the first place. I should have enough to tie me down for a bit anyways.

Cabelas has these in stock for $99.99/ea . http://www.cabelas.com/rimfire-ammuniti ... ammo.shtml

They had 10 left when I walked in. I grabbed 4, by the time I walked away they were down to 3 or 4. Today was definatly my lucky day

And that's why the stuff is so hard to find anywhere. 8400 rounds? Did you really need that much?

Well, considering I go shooting about twice a month, and each time we go through around 1k rounds of .22LR, it should get me until May or June. Maybe even July. I put so much effort into calling around this morning, I never got any work done. Why make a 2nd trip to the store?
