heads up 223 brass will be hard to find

Postby LarryFlew on Sun Feb 10, 2013 10:16 am

I have been buying and reselling 223/5.56 brass that I purchase from 2 ranges in Cal and AZ. Neither are getting enough shooters shooting 223 to make it worth buying any more so my last batch is on CL right now. SOLD IN 10 MINUTES

If you are going to need any find some now. At $165/1000 polished and shipped my pricing is a little higher than most here are willing to pay so this is more of a heads up than a try to sell as it always sells on CL or Armslist.

I've pretty much gave up on .223, at least for now

I have plenty of brass.. However, it's CHEAP 55-62gr projectiles that elude me, as well as powder.

..Oh.. and I wrecked my resize/deprime die attempting to remove a case..

..And I have to figure out the new/used xl650, not sure if I have everything for it..

.....Hell. Glad I have the brass.

Same.

My .223 guns don't get used anymore. Probably won't until after the panic.

Hrmn, $0.25/cartage.

1000 cartridges weight about 12.25lbs. going off of this, that lot should be about 617,959 cartridges.

I wish I had the space to store, and the time to process this stuff. It could be a nice, profitable sideline. Process 1000/ day; to sell for min. of 0.10 / pc....
last I looked min bid was up to $25k.

I was able to obtain a mixed headstamp mix of .223/5.56 casings off of gunbroker for about $130 shipped from a range in CA. It's all in good condition, just having to punch out the primers and swage all the brass is somewhat of a time vampire. But it's better than having to buy overpriced factory ammo, and dealing with the hoards of buyers :D .

Any idea what you could get for it on Armslist for polished, resized/deprimed (in a match die, no less), AND swaged??

Best deal at the fun show this weekend was .12/ea for 5.56 once fired and tumbled. Not sized or deprimed. Mixed years, LC.

I almost bought a bag, but stopped myself. I don't really need any more .223 for a while. I've got 700 cases I haven't even loaded yet. So I spent that $60 on 3 more pounds of h110 at Wolf's Den on the way home instead. :D
