+1

A fool spends hundreds and thousands of dollars on very expensive metal, and then fails to buy a $100 dehumidifier and run it for $10 or less per month.

Something to consider if planning a dehumidifier. as opposed to window/ portable AC- the thermal(heating) effect of the dehumidifier will be on par with a small electric heater. It's an energy exchange: the air will be less humid, but the temperature will be higher. In a cool basement it may not be an issue. In a normally 70 degree room, it will get warm.
This is NOT to say you should not keep the environment dry, only that an AC may be the best way to do it.

I run a dehumidifier on auto year round (hasn't fired up in 5 months), but it can if need be. It does get hot in the summer when the AC isn't on, but it's also pumping out water all summer long. I have a lot of expensive bare steel in my shop. I wouldn't think of not having the dehumidifier.

I tell everyone when I see a problem like this - you need to address it or it will bite you. The amount of water I take out of the air annually might surprise you. I don't literally track it, but it flows out a hose and is very obvious that there's quite a bit.

In progress 1 inch substrate down today, 2 layers of 1/2 inch ply glued and screwed down. Top will be another layer of 1/2 inch ply that will hang a foot over this side to use as a cleaning/repair area

Image

top will be flush this side where the presses are going to go, space underneath will get a bin system eventually for components.

Image

Soon as this last round of snow melts I can cut the top, my shop is to small for a full sheet of plywood.

That looks like a great start Mary.

Here's the state mine's in (I need to clean it before loading anything on it):

Absolutely Beautiful setup RT. I always thought a stainless bench would be nice and your setup proved my theory. I would love to have a dedicated reloading / gun room. Once both my boys are finished with their college and they move out on their own, one room will become Big Dog's Reloading and Gun Haven

Top on, presses mounted for now. Need to clear coat the top but it came in from humid storage and needs to dry first. Started hauling stuff then ran out of energy plus my spine said enough for one day.

Need 3 shelf brackets under this side where I am going to do gun maintenance.

Finally got my room remodeled so I could open up all my Dillon boxes and start setting up my 550b
Pulled the carpet, added another cabinet and painted. Now to finish putting everything back in the room in it's place.
Just need a fridge! Tv and pc in the other corner.

Oh, someone will ask, the aircraft hanging is a Byron 1/4 scale Grumman Hellcat that I bought and started 25-30 years ago, then the kids started showing up and it went on hold. I used to be big in RC flying (actually have a real pilot's license). Hope to start back on it again soon to finish it.

Mines mostly Dillon/Blue with a little Red/Mec and some RCBS/Green and has more clutter

I thought I posted before, but I guess not.

The single stage is not bolted down, and I can move it around as needed to create space. Same with my case trimmer that comes out and mounts in when I need it. The Dillion is all that is mounted. The ammo cans on the top 2 shelves are for sorted brass, and everything from the bottom shelf down is loaded.
