How many batches, or how long were you reloading before you felt "ok" letting someone else shoot your reloads?

I know my first batch worked (just as accurate as the factory I had been shooting as far as I can tell) I just don't know if I want someone else shooting them (safety thing, not like I'm over possessive or anything).

I've reloaded for over 40 years with no problems. I reload for every one of my guns and I have a bunch of them. However, unless its for my Family, I won't let anybody else shoot my reloads. Just too risky.

Essentially, NEVER. Early on I was a bit of a n00b and loaded up some 7mm Rem Mag for a very good friend of mine who was an avid hunter and needed to max out his rifle to make long shots up in the mountains. He taught me to hang glide, so neither one of us ever thought much about what if something happened, because we were at 100 times more risk with the gliders we were flying back then anyway.

Since then, I really haven't known anybody that couldn't load his own, so that issue has never come up. I can tell you that I would still be really leery of it, because what if a friend's buddy (and some people in here DO have idiot buddies) got mud in the barrel and it blew up?? Then WTF are you?? It's simply not worth the hassle to get involved in that kind of stuff.

If you're not charging someone, and you let them know your ammo is reloaded what are the real risks?

Seems about as risky as loaning a neighbor a chainsaw or letting a friend drive a car you've done work on.

Being from Ely, if I didn't own several chainsaws I would borrow any chainsaw. No problem.
There are only two people who I know that I would shoot their reloads without worry.
Chainsaws don't build up 35,000 lb. of pressure like reloads.

No, but they'll sure chew through skin and bone quick. If one of your buddies does that to himself with your chainsaw, I don't see how you're any less sued...

I've reloaded for nearly 40 years. Never had a squib nor an overcharged load....and I don't intend to anytime soon. My range buddy and I will occasionally shoot each other's firearms to test out a new trigger, evaluate a presumed problem, try out a new firearm, etc. I do not recall either of us ever pulling a magazine and thus forcing the other person to shoot their ammo in the firearm. Other than him, only my family members shoot my reloads.

That all being said, I once buried a chainsaw in my knee many, many years ago while cutting pulpwood to make money (lived in Bemidji). I've yet to shoot myself though.

Edit: Frickin' right it will chew through flesh and bone.

I and many of my friends have scars from chainsaws, which has nothing to do with reloading methinks

I have let a friend shoot my reloads. The one requirement is that they accept the risk of pulling the trigger knowing that my ammo is not factory made.

I've never had a squib yet, or had any bad load.... Knock on wood.... But I know that it could just be a matter of time before I get so comfortable that I let my guard down, and load a bad round.

I don't want that one bad round to be shot by someone else, so I'll never let someone else shoot my reloads.

My loads, my problem.

Besides... My time and those components are too expensive!
