I buy corn cob and walnut in 40/50 bags. I never knew pet bedding was same product . I polish 25,000 rounds a year and buy cob infrequently. If you use Turtle Wax scratch and swill remover you get a good result also. I am building a SS pin tumbler using a recommendation from an engineer. Possibly I can send pictures once it is going. I hear the SS pins are magnetic. I would plan on removing the pins magnetically in water.
Proudly launching lead from a Swiss P-240 at a range near you.

I've read that it isn't recommended to tumble loaded ammo, I'm assuming you haven't had any issues?

"Q: Can I tumble loaded ammo?
A: No, this can be very dangerous. Tumbling loaded ammo can break down the powder causing extreme pressure problems. "

All the major commercial manufacturers tumble their live ammo. Most commercial re-manufacturers do also, this is where I learned to do it properly. A little different technique is used compared to normal brass case tumbling.

I've tested over a chrono many loads that were tumbled or not as live ammo and seen no difference in pressures or velocity.
Besides why would it be different than bouncing around in back of the UPS truck or whatever other shipping process is used for bulk powder or commercial ammo.

That's all LAWYER TALK, because it can be done IF PROPER TECHNIQUE is utilized.

Let's see the data ...........................

The pins I use are magnetic, even though they are considered stainless steel. They have enough iron to stay magnetic. I use a magnetic hook designed to hang items on the fridge, with a string tied onto it, to pickup any pins that might hit the ground. With my bad hip and back, it really helps.

To the other poster that asked about tumbling my loaded ammo. I only tumble it for about 10-20 minutes in Corn Cob (pet bedding) and Nu Finish car polish. It helps to prevent the brass from tarnishing as quickly. Of course, I use thin cotton gloves to handle my ammo after tumbling and while putting it in plastic ammo boxes (rifle ammo) or small heat sealed bags (pistol ammo). Oldman taught me this tidbit. I too have ran a few thru my chrono, with zero noticeable difference.
