no more gunstop until john is back

A place to discuss calibers, ammunition, and reloading

I drove across town today and 10 minutes before their posted closing time they had the entrance door locked. Two other guys walked up and tried the door too. The clowns working there didn't even bother looking toward the door - they just kept drudging on like the trolls they are. Guess they don't need or want the Customers / sales. This is the second time they have locked the doors early (that I know of). I'm also done with gunstop. There are other local options and ordering on the web easilly offsets the cost of shipping w/o the tax and gas cost. The attitude there is also about as poor as I've ever seen at ANY retail shop!!! :deadhorse:

Says a fair amount about a person so quick with the "order online" thing.

Of course you can buy reloading stuff other places. That is only part of what you miss by not engaging John W. in Q&A. Lots of people seem to let minor stuff outweigh the important stuff. That's fine as long as their ignorance doesn't go uncorrected.

I don't speak for anyone but myself... but if you think someone in the retail shooting industry has to be begging for customers after the past year you'd be wrong. Not great longterm practice but they haven't had trouble finding consumers lately...

Frankly, I'm more concerned about John than his rude pet elephant and the shop right now, as initial estimates were that he was going to be back in September. Anybody heard anything??

Perhaps YOU didn't read the thread (notice the title of the thread or similar complaints about a lack of civility or customer service skills)? The only comment I made other than the poor customer service is about their locking up early. If you are getting "wonderful customer service" you're in the minority (because I haven't seen it since John W. was there and I've been going there for over 3 years). I like John W but his pals standing in for him aren't doing him any favors.

I was in the shop on Tuesday morning. John and his wife (I believe, having never met her before) were there. John was moving around okay, albeit very slow. He has lost quite a bit of weight, but overall seems to be in good spirits ( I know, not really like the John we all know and love). Anyway, it was good to see him and thought I would provide an update.

Thank you. I may have to go over with Sasha and see if he needs some therapy this weekend, in addition to Larry, who ALWAYS needs therapy. One other significant point: The read count on this thread is EFFEN humongous, and at 3200 or more that works out to 10 customers per day for a whole year, disregarding the post whores who hang out in here...

Next week I'm going to buy a 550b, I might have to go north instead of South and check this place out, I like crabby old people and being a n00b at reloading should be a good time.

When I saw John in the shop on Tuesday, it seemed like he was just there to visit and not to work. I didn't get a chance to talk to him, so I don't know if/when he is actually planning to return to work.

Not to :deadhorse: but I agree that I hope John is better and returns to the shop. Being a heart patient is not fun and it is life-changing. I personally cannot deal with the big guy so I am glad I am not in need of any supplies at the moment. But I WILL say that in his own inimitable fashion, Big John steered me to a more suitable .223 dieset than then one I had in mind, and that was a good result. Getting there could have been easier though.

GS is a great asset of both supplies and knowledge and I hope it keeps on being such.

Or maybe EAST = Scheels in Eau Claire Wisconsin has Dillon products less expensive than Dillon itself, and most stuff in-stock.

And if you need setup or reloading training, give me a call. I currently am using two RL-550B's (one is being repaired and updated from condition as received from previous owners). And I have fourteen single stage presses available to cover all aspects of reloading, some of which may be for sale.

The Scheels in Mankato and in St. Cloud has Dillon 550b's in stock and cheaper than Gunstop . They also have 650's cheaper as well.
