Or maybe EAST = Scheels in Eau Claire Wisconsin has Dillon products less expensive than Dillon itself, and most stuff in-stock.

And if you need setup or reloading training, give me a call. I currently am using two RL-550B's (one is being repaired and updated from condition as received from previous owners). And I have fourteen single stage presses available to cover all aspects of reloading, some of which may be for sale.

I will have to keep you in mind when I get that far! I also want to add a single stage in the near future to load 308.

Thanks for the offer of assistance!

The 550 is very capable of handling all of your .308 needs, no single-stage needed, unless you just want to have one. They can be handy, but I haven't found anything that I can't do just as well only faster on the 550.

Good luck,
Erik

Had my brother stop in there the other day and pick me up a case Guage, being more of a n00b then I am, He said the big fella was helpful and hooked him up but seemed like he could be a dick.

My past experience as a customer and possible gun purchaser with this store was terrible. They need to go out of business.

Two different businesses in the same building. There is the reloading side and the gun side.

And depending on when that gun experience was they may have. Business is new as of last spring if OF memory serves.

Yeah, technically the business changed hands, but you probably dealt with the same guy buying a gun anyway.

I've dealt with the firearm area there a few times and I'd have a hard time giving them any money now. They used to have a nice area with US mil surplus stuff, now that's all gone. They don't really stock as much as they used to either. It used to be you could go there and they'd have every rifle available to handle. Seemed like 98% AR with a few AK's last time I went.

As far as the reloading, I buy big enough quantities now that it isn't worth dealing with them, cheaper on the web.

I still want to hit Arntzen, but I have a hard time not just buying stuff online, including firearms.

To me Gunstop is acceptable to poor service, high prices and poor selection, and a long drive.

no more gunstop until john is back

I went in today and the big guy was at the counter. I thought it was very funny that I could buy 4 lbs of powder. 1000 Winchester primers but only 250 at a time of any one type of Montana Gold.... LOL

MG's are a heck of a deal for jacketed bullets (yes there are cheaper). They put up quantity minimums a while ago to manage demand. Missouri Bullets for bare lead had quite a back log also at one time.

Good times to be in the firearms industry.

I checked in on this site this morning for the first time in awhile and was wondering what was up with John Walton. I did get a feel for where he is now and noted the many comments about the John (Big John)who is covering for John W. while he recovers. I've been in to Gunstop a few times this year and of course have many the same observations most of the posters have had. Clearly the poor fellow is not the most affable chap I've met but folks, please keep in mind he and John W. may be viewing our posts. I can tolerate things for a period as long as I can get my product, so many times I will bite my tongue until the problem resolves itself. And it will. May the Christmas spirit invigorate us enough to temper our negative comments.

I personally don't like the occasional rude behavior but what it really comes down to is its painful to watch a person be in such a state of mental agony. I have been there myself and its not fun and for that reason I give them a break and continue to shop there, life is not always easy. I do wish both Johns well and pray they can sort out the demon in their head, life is too short to be in a constant state of frustration.

Nicely said indeed. And if that's the worst thing that happens to us in a day, then we should go buy a ticket.

Oddly, there were no comments at all on this topic for 20 days until you dug it up.

That may well be. As I said, I've been off this site for awhile. Upon my return, on this subject at least , I found a number of comments which seemed to have an unneeded flavor of cruelty to them. I don't suffer that type of thing very well I guess and wanted to show John a little support. The first post on the subject was August 9th I think but I'm not clear on your point.

Point was that no one had made any negative comments(or any other comments at all) for 20 days before you showed up to tell people not to make negative comments. Seems like everyone is pretty much on John Walton's side, but as a free-market capitalist, it gets tough to keep giving business to a place that will treat you like crap when he's not there. That is the sad fact of the matter when Big John is left in charge. I've dealt with John W for many years with all good experiences(except for one, which I attributed to one of us having a bad day and didn't let it bother me). Every experience with big John has been bad, so I don't deal with him anymore. I'm not going to give someone my money to treat me poorly. This is not just a phenomenon with local customers. Gunstop does a lot of internet business and there are similar threads on other national boards about bad service from big John, customers being hung up on, etc. John W knows about the situation, but hasn't done anything about it for whatever reason. I'll stop in again when he's back to work, but probably not before.
