Arrrr!! That be a misnomer from a lubber if I ever heered one!! Any seafarin' man with a taste for hot lead and cold steel knows chain shot is two cannonballs with 2 or 3 fathoms of chain in between. amd is used for the standin' and runnin' rigging on boats. STAR shot, on the other hand is up to five steel bars or pipes attached with a single ring in the ends, and then it's folded up and put down the barrel of a 24 pounder. When ye touch off Star shot, it can mess up the riggin' a bit, but it's death for breakfast if it sweeps the enemy's deck! What this here be is 3 point Star Shot!!

Wow this is pretty awesome. I hope they have it in .25ACP or .22WMR! I'm getting excited thinking about how much lead I can put down range with an innovative technology like this. This is going to make me like 3 times as lethal!!! Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet!

They do have a store, although it's easy to overlook given their site design.

I only looked at twelve gauge but 6$/round? I guess their stuff would still be interesting to those that have real pistols (my .22's lament)?

now for those of us with a 12 gauge these links have some of the 'interesting' options. the first two have bolos two slugs one wire for around two dollars less each than the fancy stuff I'm supposed to be talking about, I thought it was weird that one says long range?

apparently you have to call them to order?

rhodesian jungle ? several rubber types .

welll like I said above I was only thinking of myself and 12 gauge not considering others who have real pistols when I googgled up this pile... I hope it doesn't cause trouble.

So the premise is that in a stressful situation your aim might not be as accurate, but since the pieces expand to a specified diameter you have a higher hit probability. Makes sense, but outside of the home I would be concerned about the liability of the other pieces that missed the attacker - I'm assuming those strings aren't strong enough to hold all of them together if only one or two pieces hit, but I'm sure they would go off of a straight trajectory.

$6 a round is nothing when your life is at stake!

no way I'd be willing to run enough to be sure of what it does [not rich.] I'd like to see it hit something besides paper, should I have spent more time to find the other tests or is it just paper that you get to see? no Jello or anything?

less than 50 cents is fine when your life is at stake?Image being familiar with is better than fancy isn't it?

Wow... It splatters a watermelon at 21 feet. <yawn>

.308 does it better

But seriously, that bullet does what you don't want any bullet to do: instantly sheds mass!

.45 acp is a great round because it's a heavy bullet traveling with enough speed to deliver a wallop to whatever fleshy object it encounters. When splitting a bullet 4 ways (look at video, see how the tip becomes it's own projectile) and you only started out with 230gr, that means you have 4 bullets less than 60gr traveling at 800fps or so... Sounds like shooting 4 shots of Super Colibri at a perp and expecting them to fall over dead. :wack:

The shotgun version of the old star shot has a lot more going for it, but mainly because you have room to stuff bigger sections into the cartridge. Regular tethered shot could be quite nasty, but only because untethered shot has already proven to be very effective.

What problem is this supposed to solve?

sorry, if you miss with regular ammo, you will miss with this stuff too, and by cutting your projectile in to 3-4 pieces, you've cut your penetration drastically.

Want a pattern, use a shotgun with open choke and birdshot.

A pistol with this? Something that already has marginal stopping power and cut its penetration by at least 2/3? sounds good to me. Not.

And Sam, it is chain shot- using a "string" (of whatever) so that it will cut when it is "close enough" is chain (look at their paper targets- the "string" is what makes the impressive tearing on the paper). The antipersonnel round of the old ships was grapeshot until someone came up with cannister.
