An all rubber drum like the Lortone tumblers seems like a good idea. I just don't like the way the Lortone cover seals on, nor do I like that the groove in the locking nut rides in a metal aluminum slot. Seems like a good way to simply loosen the nut.

Very creative use of materials.
It looks like the drum doesn't contact/ use the wheels for much support.

I think this video was done right away. I must have adjusted them a little. They now make good contact.

After using this at least 20 times or so, the only regret I have with it is that I might want a flat base on the back end so when I'm not using it, I can stand it upright to save floor space. I still do that, but it's a little wobbly.

As far as tumbling... It works awesome, and I wish I would have built it sooner. SS pins are awesome.

Hey - let's cut the BS here!! we all know the real reason for this thread is so Rodentman cam make himself the most deluxe rodent exercise wheel ever designed, and run around inside of it to his ratty heart's content!! :P The one thing I think that such a tumbler needs is a hole in the end with a shaft sticking through it, so you can mount a tablet inside the wheel and watch endless repeats of the movie "Willard" Both the 1971 and 2003 versions, too!!

You forget that I am a miserable cripple, overweight, old, and physically decrapitoded. I may be fun to watch in the rat wheel but it sure aint gonna get any stinking brass cleaned. And the stinking Dr just changed my cholesterol med so I'll probably get the craps from that. Not a pleasant sight.

Looks like you could weld a 'hoop' to the bottom pretty easily to use as a stand/handle. Nice job!

Great idea! An easy enough to weld on without to much hassle and repainting. Thanks for the tip. I'm gonna do that!

Well, might as well take this thread all the way to Tidy Bowl land to take our attention off the Viqueens, the weather, and ammo availability and prices:

Somewhere, long ago, there was a thread that got into how to get rid of rats with non-poisionous bait if you had pets, and some old guy said mix one part plaster of Paris with two parts corn meal, mix well, and leave out for the rats to eat. The theory was that the plaster would set up inside the rat and constipate it to death, but somebody else wrote in saying they had taken it up to 75% plaster and 25% corn meal, and while they found no dead rats, they did find some rat turds that were so hard that they cracked like bricks when you hit them with a hammer.

Now then, can you envision the following mental image:

Here's a poor rat all hunched up in a corner after eating some 3/4 plaster 1/4 corn meal, and he is constipated as all hell, and the strain on his ratty face is incredible, and there are tears coming out of his eyes, and then after a great ratty "HHHHNNNNNNNNNHHHHHHHHHUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHH!! you hear the clank of a small rat brick hitting the floor... :P :P :P :P :P :P

Looks like a great item. No I don't have one yet, but am sorely tempted. Think I'll wait until mine totally craps out. Nice to know there's an alternative. Guess they heard about rust issues. They heard from me!
