Gun Ammunition, Sans Gunpowder.

Postby bocag18 on Fri Feb 28, 2014 4:20 pm

So a while back my dad got me some of this .22 Aguila powder-less ammo to shoot as a novelty. It utilizes what is essentially a case full of primer to propel a little 20 grain bullet. The pressure generated is so low that you can only fire it out of pistols since the bullet would get lodged inside a longer rifle barrel (needless to say it does not have the umph to operate a semi-auto action). On the upside it is relatively silent.

So here's my question, I'm done with this ammo and am thinking of selling it at the Wells gun show. What would be a fair asking price for 32 of these little guys? Would $5 be too much for a gun show? I also have some .22 WMR but I think I have a good idea of what they're worth. Any advice would be appreciated since I know you guys are the experts.

And since the joke will be made I'll make it; "Powder-less? More like powerless".

I 'think' the case is empty and the bullet is propelled soley by a normal load of rim primer. I have some and it is indeed quiet. It cycles a semi-auto though.

Just a quick check on the price of CB caps show that they go for less than $9.00 for a 100.

Huh, I thought the whole case held the primer. Thanks for correcting me.

Like most 22 ammo it is out of stock everywhere but the typical price of $9 per 100 mentioned is right on. There are rifle versions and other colibri rounds made.

I live in town and Aguila super calibre is my go to pest round in a single shot rifle. At 25 feet to 40 feet it will devastate squirrels and will bounce off plywood.
Its quieter than most air rifles.

If these cycle your semi-auto you could have a weak recoil spring and regular ammo will batter your action.
CCI cb.22 will not operate any semi-auto I have tried them in.
