Powder question

Postby Bearcatrp on Sat Jan 10, 2015 7:55 am

Was at Cabelas yesterday and checked out there powder selection. They had a few IMR XBR 8208 1 lb on the shelf so grabbed one. Can anyone comment on how good or bad this powder is? Been using 4064 but thought to give this a try for my 7.62/308.

I've never personally used it, but the people I know who have like it. The only negative things I've heard is it can be temperamental at max loadings.
I will never apologize for being an American.

There isn't really good or bad in powders. Some work better than others for a given rifle.

8208 XBR has been terrific in .223 and .22-250 applications for me. One of my .223s in particular, loves it.

It also meters well and is temprature stable, which very nice when out varmint shooting in July in the extreme heat.

Certainly worth a try.
