Clays Powder

I stopped at Roch Fleet Farm last night and to my surprise they had Clays. I hadn't seen any for several years

I've seen it but only in small quantities which is sufficient for me since I only use it right now in light 357 loads. It is only a matter of time till it is gone though. ADI stated that they would be phasing in new powders starting May 2016 and that the old powders would be phased out allowing a period of about 1 year that both would be on the shelf. However we are past May and the new powders are not listed on their site yet.

Metro Gun Club had some 1# containers when I was there earlier. Not sure on price, try giving them a call.

The Clays line of powder was moved from ADI in Australia to General Dynamics in Canada a couple of years ago. I began to see Clays and Universal Clays on shelves and online about last Christmas but have not bought any. One of the guys on my sporting clays team has used it and he claims he had to change bushing size to get the proper charge weight. I don't recall if it was up or down but I suspect smaller as the Australian Clays was pretty bulky.

It shows up unexpectedly so one needs to keep their eyes open, hit the shops regularly, and have a little luck on their side. Or, just buy whatever is on hand which meets the need and be happy you found something.

Been shooting Clays for years in .45 acp. I have always been amazed how much less recoil than other powders, yet it makes power factor over a chronograph.
