Belgiboy,
A Python that that is going to go up in price exponentially you will never get ahead? There is a nice 38 Special Python at GS! There was a nice deal on a 4in 586 that looked like new for a shade over 400 bills!

After looking over the pictures of my reloading room again, I thought they would make a good series of pictures for a "Where's Waldo" type contest.

A suggestion.

I have the normal outlets that you would run just above the floor that are hot all the time, normal in most construction. I wish I would have added at least one, if not two more in my reloading room, forget about the 6 ft cord rule, so I ended up adding a power strip under my bench to meet my needs.

My ceiling lights are on a switch next to the door, again normal.

But I have another switch next to ceiling light switch next to the door. This switch runs the outlets that are located above/around my bench that I have things plugged into that I do not want running unless I am there. These things are my scanner, the two desk lights, my case vibrator that I don't like to run unless I am present, also other things, depending on the day, so a flip of the switch and they are all off. Yes you can run a power strip, but on an big bench area, wouldn't be better to run all from one switch?

I use the regular hot outlets around the base of my room for things like my safe's Golden Rods, the trickle charger for my Tri-Tronix e-collars, Motorola radios, etc. that I need to keep hot or charged.

So my suggestion is have a separate power line/outlet that is controlled by a switch that you can turn off when you leave the room. Instead of turning off several things when I leave, it is done easily with one switch.

I know you know this, but your loading room will be a kinda shop area, so add more outlets than you think you will need. No harm done if an outlet is hidden behind stuff, it only sucks if that is the only spare outlet you have and need power.

The extra line of outlets controlled by a single switch, I think is a big plus

Don't have pictures handy, but when I put my room together I bought base cabinets and upper cupboards from The Re-Use Center in Mpls. I used 2 pieces of 3/4" plywood on top with a couple coats of polyurethane. I've been reloading shotgun shells for several years, but have just recently started reloading brass. I mounted the shotshell loaders (a 20 ga and a 12 ga) on Rockler T-track so I can move them to the back of the bench when not using them, but bring them forward for use. The loader for brass is bolted to the bench. A bar stool is the perfect height to work from.

Of course no matter how much room you have, it's never enough ....

Why not a 650 :?: :?: ;) :yippee: :goofydance: :hmm: :cogitating: :cheerleader2:

The 550 is the most versatile of the Dillon Presses with respect to cost effective purchases. 650 Caliber conversions are almost twice as much as 550. With a case feeder the 650 is not much faster then a 550.

When I first purchased my reloaders the case feed for the 550 was more expensive then the 650 so when purchased there was only about a $50 difference best as I can remember :o
And when I went to purchase a caliber conversion, tool head, powder thrower it was about $100 cheaper then a whole new press which came with a caliber conversion which is how I came about my 2nd and 3rd 650 :o

Whatever Rem700 the 550 coversion is 41 bucks the 650 is 71 bucks almost twice as much. The case feeder for the 550 cost more only because it is a total add on vs the 650 has the plumbing already there. So that is flat out apples to oranges comparison. So your observation is not really valid with respect to the versatility of the 550.

Well it was valid to him. And I envy a man who has three 650's

Rem700. You have mentioned casting. What do you use for that?

Not to long ago a guy named John Walton, runs a place in Minnetonka called Gunstop. Told me that the price difference between toolhead set ups for 550 and 650 was $35. If you have never talked with this John Walton you should he is a great resource for reloading. :stirthepot: :stirthepot: :stirthepot:

I was not debateing the 550 vs 650 only how I came about my 650s and how I justified there purchase.

Mostly I just hate doing the primer switch so I dont

Rem700. You have mentioned casting. What do you use for that?

Being cheap all I have is Lee molds mostly tumble lube molds and the 20lb bottom pour furnace for lead I shooot mostly wheel weights.
When I was shooting 45/70 long range I used a Lee 500gr mold and size on a Lyman sizer them big bullets get expensive and like I said I am cheap and look to save money where I can.

This topic is for showing different setups, sharing ideas, offering suggestions and oohing and aahing. It should not turn into a member having to explain the reason they did something and or bought something. If you have cost saving ideas by all means share them. :)
