Lee Pro-4000 Press

Has anyone tried the new Lee Pro-4000 Press? I'm thinking of a mid(?)-life change.

Don't you already use a Dillon? If so, why would you want to go backwards on technology? The Lee is only a 3 station press, it looks like the primers need to be placed into the press manually also.

According to the Lee website the Pro-4000 is a 4-stage press.

And has easy to use primer feed unless Lee took a step backwards with the 4000 as opposed to the 1000 3 stage which also has primer feed.

It's 4 stage and the white vertical v shaped thing in the middle is the primer feed.

I've used my Dillon 650 for over 20 years and easily loaded over 100,000 rounds. The only primer problems I've had is changing primer sizes. It takes too long. Also, loading the primers into the primer tubes is tedious.

The 650 is no longer made. Dillon now makes a 750 to replace the 650. The 750 priming system looks to be significantly changed. I don't know how hard it is to change primer sizes on the new 750.

Used 650's are selling for more than what I paid for mine.

I had one part break on my 650. I called Dillon and they said they were having breakage problems with that part. They had re-designed it and sent me 2 replacement parts that arrived the next day along with a their miscellaneous replacement parts kit. (I have never broken the part again.)

Dillon's are great, just expensive.

If you want a 650 go for it, but it'll have to be used. Dillon has replaced them with the 750 with a re-designed priming system that looks (in their catalogs) like the system on my 550. I've worked with Dillon to fix my 650 and it may be OK, I'm just looking for something different. Plus my reloading activities seem to be declining so I'm planning ahead.
