New reloading room

A place to discuss calibers, ammunition, and reloading

+1 on the shelving and storage. I have a friend that has a full blown gun/ reloading room and along one long wall is the reloading bench that allows him to keep everything set up and ready to go. On the wall behind he used the gorilla racks or a knock off for all the components and accessories. The stouter the shelving, the happier you will be. He has his bolted to the wall so he does not have to worry about it tipping over when loaded.

Bear in mind that if you store large amounts of powder, you have to construct a “magazine” that has to meet fire regs and some cities get really fussy about this. I used to do rocketry and some of the hoops the guys went through in MPLS were unbelievable.

I thought of this since you are still a ways from completion......go http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/sho ... p?t=231150 and pay particular attention to Rembrandts set up with a tracked system. Looks like a great way to save space and make things work well. Otherwise

10k primers is nothing......and a couple of 8# jugs is nothing......once you start reloading a lot you will consume stuff pretty darn fast.

Also look at Akro mills bins. These are the same bins that dillon ships with their presses.
I buy mine from northern and from grainger. Great for bullets, lot batches of brass etc

A small shop vac is a good idea to have for errant powder and spent primers. There is another idea, which I did not find a picture of but it involves using replaceable mounted equipment that slides into the work bench top.

Go look at http://thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=218720&page=26 the post buy lookinforlunkers that is the idea with slide in slide out mounts

Mike has been working very hard on this room. We have some lights to install, staining, trim and putting stuff back and it should be done.

That's going to be a nice set-up.

I've already demonstrated my lack or reloading knowledge around here but fire resistance comes to mind... Now days they make fire resistant studs, plywood, insulation, drywall, paint, doors. Fire-block all around all outlets and other openings. You could make it a 60 minute room!

Maybe watch the furniture that you use in there (no stuffy couches) and use flame resistant window coverings as well.

At this point a residential fire sprinkler makes sense for you and you would accomplish the same thing. Probably save a bundle on your HO insurance too:
