Been watching the development of this cartridge. Looks interesting. Am considering getting into it. Anyone?

I think the .338 ARC and the 8.6 Blackout are really two peas in a pod.

Trying to make subsonic/quiet hunting rounds for larger game.

Take your pick as to which you prefer.

Note that the similar supersonic .338 Federal (aka .338/08) isn’t exactly setting the world on fire.

The a square legitimized.338/06 is probably the best of the lot, and is really more a wildcat than anything.

If you really want odd (I have one) look at the .318 Westley Richards (it’s essentially the.338/06 but using odd .330 bullets- was big in Africa in the interwar years until too many idiots got stomped trying to use it on Cape buffalo).

Thanks for the reply. Not into wild cats. Not sure I want to reload another cartridge. Looking at the new Hornady reload book, I don’t any powder that would work. It looks like an interesting caliber. Think I’ll stick with my 300BO for now. Even looked at the 6MM ARC but in the same boat on powder. Stocked up awhile back on powder. Haven’t bought any in years. I peak at prices when I go into a gun store and shake my head on the prices these days.
