Reasonable .45lc ammo

Postby Timmer2183 on Thu Dec 08, 2011 8:47 pm

Does anyone have a source for reasonably priced .45 LC ammo?
Thanks

You bet.
Head to Wolf's Den, pick up some dies and bulk bullets, and you can reload for about $6.50 per box like I do.
It's the cheapest and best way to go.
I load different loads for my AWA Peacekeeper, Ruger 45 Colt, and my Rossi Model 92 Lever.

Sure beats paying $35.00 a box of factory ammo, and you get better loads also.

if you like 45 colt get to the wolfs den and they can get you loading. 45 colt just begs to be loaded. How much ammo do you need?

+ 000 steel wool (to clean fired cases)

+ powder (Lee dies come with a dipper to measure powder ... .45 Colt should come with a 0.7cc dipper, and according to my Lee chart, that also comes with the dies, with a 250gr cast bullet, ya'd get 650 - 700fps using one of Green Dot, Red Dot, IMR PB, or IMR 700X)

+ large pistol primers

+ .452 cast 250gr bullets

=

Read the loading manual ... particularly the part on "crimping" ... particularly, a "roll-crimp". ;)
