Don't include 22LR or if you shoot for your job and don't have to pay for ammo. Include factory and handloads. If you shoot seasonally, try to average it out.

You know, I have not been shooting very long. So I was kinda hoping that I was shooting lots of ammo at the beginning but that my consumption would drop off after a couple years. This does not look like it is true.

I usually slack in the winter months. Then it goes up to ~1k/mo April - Oct.

I started out fairly slow with ammo consumption. Maybe 100/mo. Then I stopped liking cars so much. So all of my car parts money went into guns / ammo. :D

What he said, I sold my car project. Rolled the money I made into a couple new competition/league pistols and ammo. I am trying to get a head of the reloading game right now. I plan to consume 1000 or rounds a month for the summer. I have 2 5 gallon buckets full of brass cleaned and ready to load one 9mm and one 40. I expect the 40 to be empty by Halloween, and the 9mm to be close to gone.

Just like these fine gentlemen, wife said having 2 expensive hobbies was too much and one had to go. Since I work on cars all day as my job, my outside of work fun car stuff stopped and now I get to spend more money on my guns. Positive side of things is my side jobs I do go right into the gun fund also

Handgun shooting is like cocaine, so I'm told. More is better than less. The wife cooks and asked how many guns I have, I asked her how many pots she has. There is a time and use for each of them, eh?
I slow down during the winter months as I don't shoot well when my teeth are chattering. However, now that I am a ward of the State rather than working for a living, I connected with some guys who bring heaters and hot chocolate to the range almost every Tuesday morning. Those guys are hard core. Under these circumstances passing gas is as much fun as burning powder. Its a guy thing should the wife ask.

When I got my first handgun I shot a lot the first few days, then it slacked off, but then I found out about a weekly indoor league, and then I found out about IDPA, and then I found out about steel shoots. So I average somewhere in that 200/month range. I see I'm below average for this crowd.

I go in spurts.. sometimes I will shoot 200-300 rounds in day and will do so 2-3 times a week for a while and slow down a bit to just a handful.
I shoot with some guys on Tuesday Mornings ... maybe 40-45 Tuesdays a year... outdoors! So some times it's colder than a landlady's heart and sometimes it's it's hotter than Grace Kelly and Jane Mansfield in bathing suits.

When I shot USPSA I ran over 10K a year, but it was not cheap and while the new job is great it does not cover the ammo expenses. So I'm down to maybe a 1K a year.

Shoot IPSC, IDPA and 3 gun. Lots of trigger time there.
