anyone loading Barnes bullets in 300 Win. mag?

Postby user293 on Mon Dec 31, 2012 1:27 pm

I just got my rifle rebarreled with a douglas this year, and now i want to see what it can do with some handloads. ive just used factory before. Im on the Barnes train as i like the all copper, weight retaining features. Im pretty set on the 175 LRX bullet (long range x bullet). I know copper is not like regular jacketed rounds, and pressures spike at lower powder charges sometimes. I want to get some good velocity from this round. so im kinda stuck on the powder. i think my choices from what ive read are Rl-22, H4831sc, and H1000. im curious to see how far folks have pushed these bullets (maybe 180's if nobody has used the LRX). just looking for some results/opinions on these loads. thanks!

Never in that particular caliber, I will say this I have never seen or heard of a problem with bullets that come in green or yellow boxes. Barnes makes great stuff develop a load and you should have no problem finding accuracy.

Do some surfing on the interwebs, there is a company out there that sell samples packs of Barnes, Burger, and Sierra bullets a few bucks for 10 bullets is way better than buying a box of 100 only to find out your gun doesn't like a particular pill.
