Cans of 9mm ammo

Postby SAM on Fri Feb 08, 2013 9:33 pm

I recently ran across a bunch of cans of steel cased 9mm ammo----------990 rounds in a can for 214.99. Has anyone here bought or used this stuff from a can and is it relatively clean ?

Russian? I've shot tons of steel cased ammo, with no ill effects. If it's lacquered, clean well after, to prevent build up. Russian ammo can be sooty, too, and often has a cinnamon-like smell.

What brand is it?

I've shot a decent amount of 9mm wolf. Doesn't seem as consistent as brass case yankee made, but fine for anti-paper use.

Cans of 9mm ammo

A lot of Eastern European "sardine" ammo cans are old, very low quality, and have corrosive primers. In other words, it's probably way overpriced junk.

But I also have used Russian stuff from sardine cans that was no worse than the commercial Wolf. YMMV.

Wolf and Tula were sending out 900ish packs of their 9mm in surplus tins a few months ago. They just put the boxes into the tin. You could always do the corrosive test if you are unsure of manufacturer.
