Century who they purchase from raised their prices along with other importers.

... no, they are pricing their product based on what it costs them. Don't whine if you didn't have the foresight to buy a few when these were $150 a case, that isn't Fleet Farm's fault...

Obviously you've been to Fleet Farm recently, did you fail to notice to bright orange or white signs posted ALL OVER their ammo section for at least 2 months that indicated prices were going up from suppliers and their prices would reflect this?

I mean how easy can they make it, they warn you at least a month in advance to buy before prices go up and suddenly they are gouging when it actually happens? Have you been awake for the last couple of months and seen what the market is doing? F's sake man...

you must have some type of interest in FF, like i said some on mnguntalk are just in love with FF. backing them up. I buy all kinds of items from FF and will continue to do so. I just raised the question, perhaps you could give me some insight into inner workings of FF, why then hasnt the 7.62x54 ammo increased as much as the 5.45 as a percentage? Is this Stuart Mills III????

NO. If they were gouging, there would be ammo available for purchase on the shelves.

I thought $220 was pretty high too, but you know what? At least you can find it, unlike .223 or 5.56, and it's still less than half the price of the cheapest .223 around.

I'm not worried as I stocked up when it was $130 a case on sale at FF last summer.

The answer to the question posed in the thread title is a simple "no". Simple supply and demand, when demand outstrips supply, prices rise.

Geez, you almost make it sound like loving Fleet Farm is unnatural, or weird.

So they raise the price of one item and all of a sudden you think we're all in the bag for them?

They've been jacking bulk hardware prices consistently for the past 6 years. Grade 8 fasteners used to be 2.29 a pound. Now they're pushing $5 the last I looked.

In case you hadn't noticed, the US Dollar isn't worth a whole lot these days. We're dealing with taxation by inflation. Other countries expect more money for their stuff, since our money isn't worth what it used to be.

Don't sweat it, everything will be OK as soon as they raise the minimum wage. ;)

Following some other forums 5.45 isn't widely available outside of fleet farm right now. From watching the online prices $220 seems to be the norm right now. I have no problems with them raising their price to keep people from buying it and reselling on the net for the going rate.

You honestly just don't get it, do you? They are raising the prices to compensate the price increase from the DISTRIBUTORS! Have you maybe even just once stopped to think that it is even slightly possible that Century did not raise the price on 7.62x54R? If Century didn't raise the price, neither did FF.

simple as that, yet some people can't read the huge brightly colored signs that have been there for months and they begin to rip on them for "ripping" them off. Some people's children.
