Ammo locator

Postby JET on Sun Mar 17, 2013 12:10 am

Since ammo is so scarce I thought it would be good to start a thread to help each other find ammo in stock. I am looking for 9mm and .223 on the north or west side. I am just looking for cheap brass range ammo. Blaine Walmart and Fleet Farm are out.

Are people really paying 30.. 40... 50 cents/rd of 22lr??!?! Ridiculous.

Been watching GunBot and swinging into a few local places recently, nothing but shot shells.

There's a few threads for this already going. The deals subforum is the most active.

Anyone ever buy anything from their finds?
$0.90/rd 223 milsurp, or 22lr @ 5x-10x last year's price is not for me.

I have found the occasion 'available at reasonable price' at some places gunboat doesn't track.

The problem with announcing good deals on ammo, is that it's almost as useful and current as directing someone to a pile of money blowing around on a busy sidewalk.

I have a browser extension that emails me when a price level is hit on gunbot, and it has worked... The difficulty is the good prices go quickly, so you have to be on it.

Most of the time I don't have unfettered access to the inter webs. That feature would frustrated the heck out of me every time I got a 'here's a good deal' email on my phone.

Its frustrating even sitting in front of a computer. More often than not, the deal is gone in a minute. I also find that locals resell ammo on armlist when shipments come to FF or wally world. I dont mind paying 5 cents a round premium depending on the load. Let them do the work of finding it and getting it.

These days, if I'm already going somewhere that sells ammo I wander by just in case.

If it's there at a good enough price, great. If not, oh well.

Scored a couple boxes of .223 and .380 off Fleet Farm last weekend. Not the best prices, but better than anything on Armslist/Gunbroker and without any of the hassle of trying to order online before the swarms bring the server down and empty out the entire online inventory.

I reduce my shooting to compensate for the lack of ammunition to replace it.

This should have been the 2nd post in the thread: Sorry about that!!

Seriously, folks, by the time you post here, even if you're doing it from the store itself, the information has changed in the next hour or two at most. If it's still there (like the SPP at Bill's Hudson, then it's so expensive very few people will want it.

Just wanted to let everyone know that sheels in St. Cloud had a boatload of ammo in today. .223 50 round boxes from 24.99-29.99 also had a lot of 9mm magtech 50 round boxes for 17.99 and bricks of 22 lr... I got the last bucket o bullets. 22lr 1400 rounds for 79.99 but all are limited to 2 boxes per caliber. Also bulk tins of .40 s&w and .45 acp

I managed to make it to Cabela's in Owatonna yesterday morning (during the lovely storm) and there was jack-poo for ammo or components. No primers. Had some .44 ammo and a little .45acp. There were a few bottles of Unique on the shelf. Nothing worth driving there to look at. Fortunately I was in the neighborhood.

I hate to say it, but I will. This is a bad time to be buying ammo. Best thing is to buckle down and just conserve what you have until the market recovers. We are seeing AWB and anti gun bills failing left and right because of all the efforts everyone has put into contacting our legislators. Yes it stinks to be unable to buy ammo at a moments notice at reasonable prices, but give it 6 months to a year and things will be back to normal.

Just the other day I had to pay $28 for a 50 round box of 45acp just to try out someones new XDs. It's all FF had at that day. Four months ago I could have bought a box for $19. Just don't stock up on ammo right now and everything will eventually even out.

The prices i paid yesterday at scheels weren't bad prices. I don't think so anyways. Those prices were cheaper there than what my local hardware store has ammo for before all of this crap went down. Less than .06 cents per round for .22lr isnt bad at all. .223 brass, ballistic tip for .60/round isn't bad either. I was buying cheap barnaul and wolf steel for .27/round from my supplier. So barely double that for brass ballistic tip is a good deal. Luckygunner an CTD are way higher than that. If they even have it!

A while back luckygunner had tulammo, which is cheap steel basically like wolf and barnaul for .90/round which is 3 times what steel should be. Their brass was even more. I'm all about cheap ammo. When it's cheap i buy. If it's to expensive, i just shoot less, or shoot up my cheap steel stuff first.
