Tumble all empty brass in SS Pins.
Tumble reloaded ammo in vibratory with corncob media to final polish and remove fingerprints, traces of lube, etc. before packaging and tagging, and storing sealed ammo can.
Right away, someone will complain about safety of tumbling loaded ammo, but commercial manufacturers do it all the time, or else your brass would look like military brass with annealed neck. Studies have been completed by various sources that proves no powder deterioation during tumbling. Same as shipping powder in a truck or normal handling procedures. Tumbling loaded cartridges requires tumbler whether rotary or vibratory be filled completely with media to prevent actual tumbling instead of sliding thru the media. I've used cement mixers for this operation onc
I've tumbled 32ACP thru 50BMG this way with excellent results. I do not tumble Match Ammo.
After receiveing your tumbler, assemble correctly, load pins into barrel, add water and Dawn soap, seal, and tumble for 4 hours minimum to remove burrs and oils from media. This will enhance surface finish on your brass by removing sharp edges from pins.
Call me with ANY questions or concerns you may have.
Have FUN, be SAFE,
Its a competition to see who has the cleanest brass! Cleanest, not the highest polished brass.
Clean brass shoots better for Match Ammo, but is not necessary for reloading, Many shooters never clean the insides of their cases, which is fine, just not for me. Also clean brass will not scratch your
expensive reloading dies, but extra lube is required due to exceptionally clean brass surfaces in
hard to re-size brass, like "machine-gun" brass on initial reforming.
And R.T.F.M. = Reload The Finest Munnitions, after reading that damm book or two or three.
Doug, It is ALL YOUR FAULT! I absolutely love anything I do, to come out looking at least as good as new, IF NOT BETTER! It goes back to my aircraft tech days where I've always believed that if a job is worth doing, it is worth doing to the BEST of My Ability. I happen to love they way your brass looks after you finish it. The thing that kicked me over the edge, was how shiny and clean both the primer pockets and interior of each case is after tumbling. After practicing what I preach ( A Job Worth Doing is Worth Doing to the BEST OF MY ABILITY) for more than thirty years of repairing aircraft and designing and building PC's, I knew the moment I personally saw your system perform, my Next purchase was going to be a Thumler's Tumbler and SS Pin Media.
I appreciate the advice to deburr the pins before putting them in with brass and had wondered if it would be needed? I do know how sharp metal edges can be after cutting them to size.
Are there any Spare Parts that I should order and have on hand? I believe in being Pro-Active as opposed to Re-Active. I like my equipment available, when I, want to use it.
Thank you for all of your guidance and the sharing of your years of experience. I hope to some day have enough knowledge, to be able to help others wanting to reload. I have read EVERY piece of info about reloading I can find. I'm no expert, but I feel I have come a very long way in a short amount of time. I credit you, the other great people here offering advice, reading everything I can get a hold of and Watching YouTube to my ability to reload my own ammunition. Without all these sources of knowledge, I would still be floundering
