Anybody have a cheap source of lead for casting bullets, I'm looking to start making my own.

Wheelweights

Readily available in most darkly lit parking lots.
Just kidding, of course!

That was my first choice, but the tire shops around here won't give them up. Anyone have a source?

The recyclers have an agreement with the tire shops to recycle the hazardous lead materials.

You will need to contact the recyclers now, and pay big bucks for what was free not long ago.

Try contacting different tire shops offering to recycle their used lead wheelweights.

Let us know your results. A 5 gallon bucket full will cast many bullets. I ask if I can have if I can carry out of shop without setting down. Worked several times!!!!!

Tire shops stopped giving away scrap wheel weights when they discovered what they're worth. I've seen prices up to 50¢ a pound.

I don't reload or anything so have never checked before but the best I saw on ebay was closer to two dollars a pound?

Well there is 7000 grains in a pound so you could make roughly 60 9mm 115gr bullets

Scroll down to the "Where to find scrap lead" section. Best I could come up with on short notice.

Check out Roto Metals. You can get special alloys for boolit casting. Plus various other metals. Spend $100 and it's free shippng. I've bought tin from them to add to my wheel weight ingots. The prices are pretty good.
