Powder soon?

Postby Spinner on Wed Jun 04, 2014 7:59 pm

I was listening to a podcast this morning by some guys in Utah. They mentioned that powder is becoming more available in their area. Has anyone had the same experience around here? Or anywhere else in the country, for that matter?

What do you need?
I have a friend in Bringham City Utah coming to a 50BMG match next weekend. I can or will meet with him, but need to know what and how many, and will you give me cash to give him.
I will also see people from TX, LA, OK, CO, AZ, WY, ND,NE, IA, MN. SD, and WI.

Ask again after Obama isn't POtuS, and then you might get a worthwhile answer. Until then, it's the Hunger Games for all of us. Local stock will come and go based on the phases of the moon and the tides. 4-5 months ago Wolf's Den had a good stock of powder, and now they're back to bare shelves. Same for Ammocraft. Maybe seasonal, as nobody wants to shoot when it's -70F below zero for 5 months straight....

There is 30# of Varget in 1# cans, as well as several thousand Federal 205m and 210m primers for sale right now at the GRRC range in Harris. Prices are a little higher than I would pay at $30/lb and $45/1000, but they are here if you need them.

I was at the Rogers Cabelas yesterday and they had a good supply of IMR 4350, 4064 and 4895 in 1# cans. Also had a pretty good supply of CCI primers for pistol and rifle. Did not see any pistol powders or Varget.

My contact in LaVista, NE said shotgun powders are to be back on the shelves in October. This means us pistol packers will have a powder supply again !

The only pistol powder I saw at Cabela's in Owatonna yesterday was IMR4227. Fortunately I have a pretty good supply of the staple powders.

Saw a pallet of Auto Comp two days ago. But it's not for average reloading.
