best deal for 5.56/.223?

Postby zachkuby87 on Thu Feb 26, 2015 8:12 pm

Hey guys i recently got back into the ar game. Picked up an m&p 15 moe from thunderjohn my buddy recently picked up his first ar 15. We're going to texas next friday for 10 day and we plan on doing a ton of shooting/hog slaying Were having a hard time finding a deal on bulk 5.56/.223. Both rifles are 5.56. Any leads or anyone local selling it cheap? Were looking for 1000 rds minimum.

You have picked a bad time to find 5.56/.223 ammo. Check gunbot.net and see if you can find something. Otherwise gander probably has it but they'll make you pay.

Fleet Farm in Carver has 1000 rd federal boxes and 150 rd American Eagle boxes. Bring a friend because you can only buy one box a day.

NATCHEZ has a 1000 rounds of Federal 55 grain for $349.00. I think you may find better deals in Texas!

Wolf Gold has a good rep. 1000@ $375. Not that much more than online with shipping. Gotta expect to pay a premium in a hurry.

best deal for 5.56/.223?

The Federal Fusion 62 gr bonded sp should not be hard to find locally (Fleet Farm or Cabelas), good rep for hogs but close to $20 a box. Keep an eye out for the Winchester Razorback 64 grain as well, more expensive but it's a solid copper bullet designed specifically for hog hunting.

In the north metro you might try Capras for case quantity blasting ammo, otherwise that case of Wolf Gold for 375 isn't terrible on a short timeline if the seller still has it.

This guy is in St. Paul and has 400 rounds of Winchester 55 grain FMJ for $160 : http://www.armslist.com/posts/3578154/m ... mmo-q3131a

Otherwise these guys ship pretty fast:

.. also, the Wal Mart on Robert in St. Paul is showing a fair bit of brass cased Federal .223 range ammo in stock around that $0.40 cent per round mark in 100 packs. They also have the .223 grain Federal Fusion / MSR 62 grain bonded in stock at $23 a box.

Probably cheaper to buy it in texas. Check some store web sites thats in line with your travels and see whats out there. Or go on AR15.com, go into the texas forum and ask those folks for good deals. I used to go here before I started reloading, http://www.ammunitiondepot.com/Bulk-Ammo-s/1907.htm . Sometimes they have good deals.

I was going to recommend sgammo.com, as they've usually got reasonable prices, but they seem to be pretty well cleaned out of .223/5.56 ammo at the moment.
