Sometimes I get surprised by how brain dead I can be. Last night was a perfect example. Was reloading 44 magnum with 320-grain gas-checked bullets using 19gr of Alliant 2400. First one didn’t look right. Had some slight bulging in the middle. Checked with the chamber of the revolver and it was really tight. Tried again. Same problem. I suspected the gas check was seating too wide in the case. Wondering about the .431 diameter of the bullets. Did some die tweaking, measuring, worrying about the gas check, wondering if lube was needed, etc. Problem just got worse.
Finally my flipping brain kicked into gear. I was over-crimping.
Ruined four cartridges. Geez did I feel stupid!
