I can't find any

Postby BuckKlier on Sat Nov 28, 2020 11:58 am

Anybody know where I can buy small pistol primers, in the metro area? I have seen some on Arms-list but I don't like getting raped!

Afraid getting raped is the option right now. Even I won't sell my boxes of 1700 Winchester SPP for less than $125 Which is "reasonable" considering the other pricing out there. Just put them on Craigslist

The rape will go easier if you lube up prior to ordering. :bolt:

If you had small rifle primers to trade I bet I could scrounge some up

If you've got small rifle primers, you already have small pistol primers....

Or, keep your eyes and ears open and hope you luck into some. Last Thursday the store I work at took in one sleeve each of Federal Match small pistol and standard CCI small rifle primers. Neither lasted long once they hit the shelf.

It's the first small rifle primers I have seen in the store since April and the first small pistol since June. Hopefully, supply will loosen up a bit. If primers showed up as often as 9mm currently does, it would be a vast improvement over the past. I might even get a chance to purchase some.

How many primers are in a sleeve? Not familiar with that term as applied to primers. And glad to hear some are hitting the shelves at least.

As of last Thursday Scheels in Eden Prairie had small pistol, large rifle match, and large rifle magnum.

A sleeve is 5 bricks of primers. In other words 5000 primers.

Sleeve is the term I heard for that amount of primers since I started reloading in the '70s. I believe it had its origin with percussion caps which were sold in round containers and kept in a cylindrical cloth container- hence "sleeve".

I've been going thru my inventory and while looking for small rifle primers, I found a brick of 1000 for $15.99 to use. Some of the other bricks were $17.90 and $19.50 per 1000, all Federal primers.

Need to use up the old stock before using the Federal blue box stuff.

But I need SPP and 9mm projectiles.

Have plenty of powder for my usage. 25 pounds WIN231, 5 pounds Bullseye, and a small variety of other pistol powders.

Inventory of rifle powders is limited for progressive reloading like H335, but plenty of Varget, IMR4831, IMR4895, IMR4198, and others.

Anybody want to trade WIN231 for H335 ???????????????????????????????????? Or IMR4064 for H335 ?????????????????????
