New caliber?

Postby Rotary12 on Thu Jul 28, 2022 1:34 pm

Just saw an ad in American Rifleman for a new S&W Shield in 30 super carry. Anyone familiar with that round?

Between .380 and 9mm in power but the smaller diameter allows for greater capacity than 9mm.

I believe higher velocity than 9mm.

It is the answer to a question that no one asked.

Think a lower velocity version of the M1 carbine round.

The “influencers” are all agog about it.

They claim it expands as large as the 9mm, and has the same energy (the whole velocity squared thing).

It’s to the 9 what the 9 is to the .45.

It’s all about increased capacity in micro guns.

Answer: Yes.

And I agree, it is the answer to a question that no one asked. Not in the least bit impressed.

For awhile it and 6.8 western were the only ammo on the shelf.
