UP and COMING DEER SEASON

Postby SAM on Thu Oct 22, 2009 1:11 pm

Time to start getting into the woods on a daily basis to keep track of those bucks. They are already in the rut around here and damn they're pretty. With only 16 days left, I'd like to get everything taken care of and set in place so that I can leave the land idle until opening morning. Like to stay out for about a week before season. Should be a couple of gents from the forum joining my son-in-law and myself this year, and it should be a great time. CAN'T WAIT!!! Is it just me or are there others that love it so much you're not worth a tinkers damn at work for about three days before. I saw something once about deer hunting that said, " DEER HUNTING---A time when MEN become BOYS again." I'm inclined to believe that. Good luck to everyone this upcoming season---STAY SAFE AND KEEP YOUR POWDER DRY ! :) :) :D

Decrypt the points of departure and return your head slowly and you do not cancel your hair.

I might have to break out my blaze orange necktie to wear to work on the Friday before!!!

which reminds me - I'd better put in a request to leave early that day, and take deer Monday off as well!

Three days before? Heck, I would say I am at that point right now. Of course that probably has a bit to do with the youth hunt I am going on this weekend. Can't wait. Scouted it out last weekend. Have a few spots selected. Gear is all packed and ready to go! :D

We just got back from 10 days up on our land a couple of days ago. Checking stands, hunting grouse and dreaming about opening day. A couple of nice bucks hanging around as well as the usual assortment of does.

I hope some more leaves fall before we return. There was a lot of foliage that doesn't seem to want to come down this year.

Here is a picture of a buck that my son in law took last month on our hunting land.

I'm going nov 20th threw the 23rd. I just got a new mossberg 500 with slug barrel and scope. I am not a scope guy but they sell the 2 barrel combo with a rail and scope so I guess I am stuck working that way. great price though 250 for 2 barrels and scope.

cant wait for a the weekend.

Do you guys have a checklist that you go down to ensure you are ready for the opener?

Hot tub-check
Sauna-check
Pool table-check

I hope I remember ammo this year....

:P
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.
