Big Buck

Postby Npete7381 on Tue Nov 03, 2009 8:57 pm

First of all, hello again...I joined here a few years ago, posted occasionally, then fell off the face of the earth for a bit, but I'm back and I've been checking in and reading posts on a regular basis over the past few weeks. I wanted to post these pics to increase everyone's buck fever a little bit. I took these at work last night, my apologies for the poor quality, but they still give you a good idea of the size of the rack. The rack was non-typical so I couldn't get a good count on the points, but he was a 10 for sure. I work for CN railroad and the yard that I'm currently working at has a large wooded area in the middle of the yard, so the local deer population is pretty high as they are safe from hunters, cars, etc. On any given night at work it's not uncommon to see anywhere from 25-50 deer roaming and feeding around the yard, so I get to do a lot of deer watching. This guy didn't seem to care that I was lighting him up with my spotlight, so I watched him for about five minutes while he chewed on some shrubbery and made an antler rub on a small tree.

ya know, them Locomotives make a hell of a racket, I am willing to bet that if someone was able to get that close with some sort of noise maker of their own, well, It might just be lost in the ambient noise of general operations, I'm not say, just saying you know.....

bows don't make that much noise...

I can see that rack on my wall, and those steaks on my grill right now...

Looks like a buck anyone would be proud of. Thanks for the picture. Now if I get skunked this weekend, at least I can still say I saw a nice buck.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. As much as I'd like to put him on my wall, I don't think it would be very wise of me to show up at work with a bow...I guess he'll just have to go on living fat, dumb, and happy in the CN nature preserve.

This an old one-liner somewhere about not screwing with the railroad company...

Can't place it. Anyway, hunting on their nature preserve might not be the best career decision you ever made. I imagine you are on the right side of things.

Although, that doesn't mean we can't dream up hypothetical ways to get the job done. ;)

Yeah they know where to be don't they

There is a cemetery in the middle of Syracuse where there were some MONSTERS just mocking me...... (Until I got permission to bow hunt them....) TAKE THAT
